We were looking for a home water dispenser and came across the HduO here. The glowing reviews motivated us to purchase this product, so we were quite excited when it arrived. Then reality set in. First off: This thing is NOISY. The cooling fan on the system is very loud, and can be easily heard as far as 20 ft away. Second: 450W power consumption is not our idea of a functional water dispenser, other similarly priced dispensers consume less than 60W of power. Third: The small base and light weight of the overall unit make this VERY unstable, we felt like we needed to hold the unit steady every time we pushed a button to dispense water! If you have small children, and this unit is not secured to the wall, you stand a very good chance of having this unit tip over. Fourth: The flimsy design gave us the impression this wouldn't stand up to anything more than very lightweight use.

The pet water dish concept is nice, and our dog liked it, although he seemed to find the bowl difficult to reach for his size (he's a large labrador retriever). If you're willing to tolerate a tipsy, energy-hogging, noisy water dispenser in order to have a water bowl for your small pet, you might want to check this one out. However, we recommend saving the $200+ and just fill their normal water dish with fresh water daily.

I recently purchased this after my original water cooler that I received from Ice Mountain started leaking. One of the things I was specifically looking for was a dispenser that offered cold, hot, and room temperature water. At this time, Ice Mountain does not offer a dispenser with all 3 options. I did find a few other coolers that offered all 3 choices, but after reading the poor reviews on them, I decided to keep looking. I was excited when I found this product. We have a small dog and although he does not drink a lot of water, the pet bowl on the bottom of this cooler will eliminate a water dish on my floor, and one less thing for me to do.

The cooler arrived fully assembled. It was well packed in styrofoam and I followed the included directions easily to set it up.

There were included instructions on how to acclimate your pet to the cooler bowl, but my dog drank out of it right away.

The shut off features are nice. I occasionally have small children visit and they are always fascinated by the water cooler. Even with the safety valve on the hot water button, It makes me feel better to switch the hot water off when I know they are coming over, and it heats back up quickly after the small visitors leave so it will be hot again when I need it. There is also a shut off for the pet bowl, and the cold water.

I could not be happier with this!

Really clever idea...however, maybe mine was a defective unit but there was water leaking out from all sorts of places in this cooler. In addition, when this thing was plugged in it was SO LOUD that the poor kitty did not want to drink water from it because she got scared by the sound! Terrible. It was louder than my normal fridge which was disappointing. Definitely not what I had expected.

I LOVE THIS AND ALL OF MY DOGS AND CATS LOVE IT TOO. WHEN MY FIRST ONE WAS DEFECTIVE ( I EMAILED THE MANUFACTURER AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS A DEFECT AND NOTHING I HAD DONE), HE GOT BACK TO ME IMMEDIATELY, AND SENT OUT A NEW ONE RIGHT AWAY. THEY GIVE YOU A YEAR WARRANTEE NO MATTER WHERE YOU HAVE BOUGHT IT FROM.
I HAVE TOLD CUSTOMERS ABOUT IT AT WORK ALSO.

I no longer have to worry about my dogs and cats having fresh water. I've had my HduO for over six months and love it. When the wife and I leave the house we don't worry about water bowls being tipped over and or not having fresh water available 24 hours a day. I would highly reccomend for any responsable pet owner.

Unfortunately I bought the unit and now it's in the basement unused. My 2 larger dogs, 50 and 65lbs could not fit their head in to use the pet bowl. My 15lb dog was scared by the bubbling from the unit when she drank and it went to refill. Money gone-too expensive to ship back!

I'd been wanting a water dispenser for a while, and couldn't figure out where I'd put it in my tiny house. Then the ASPCA newsletter mentioned the HDUO. It would take up the same floor space already occupied by the dog's water dish. I immediately ordered one, which was one of the first versions, it turns out.

A year and a half later it sprung a leak. I called HDUO and let them know, asking if there was a repair available. I was told that the first ones had a design flaw, and they'd changed the design. AND they'd ship a replacement out FREE, same day!

New one arrived right away, and the dogs hurried over for a drink right away, they'd obviously missed it for the couple of days it was gone! My daughter's dogs make a point of having a drink when they come to visit me, first water, then the visit.

I have five cats and a couple of them are extremely noisy about wanting to drink fresh water. My old water cooler really did not have an area big enough to fill up their bowls without having to use a pitcher or large glass set under the spigot.

I am thrilled with ease of use of this cooler. My kitties will actually stick their head in to get the motion sensor to go off so that they get the water cold and fresh right out of the cooler. Even my most skittish kitty got used to the noise it makes when the water bubbles up and the cooler unit kicks on.

I have recommended this cooler to a few friends with pets and am thinking about purchasing another for my den.

Edit: Only one thing I think should be changed with this product is to switch out to a metal bowl on the bottom. I have to wash out the plastic almost everyday due to the bacteria that builds up over a short time. The bacteria is less prevelant when pets drink from metal bowls.

These are great units-the hot, cold, and room temperature options are handy (love usiing the hot to make tea!), and the pet bowl at the bottom (the main reason we bought it) works well. It takes a bit to get some animals accustomed to it (we have several cats, and some were a bit skittish of it at first), but after a couple of weeks everyone was using it. You do need to rinse out the dish on an a daily basis (our cats tend to get dirt in it), but it is well-designed and easy to get out and replace. It is noisy when it runs its heating/cooling cycle, but after a couple of days you're used to it and don't really notice it, and the cycle doesn't last very long. We ordered one of these units initially, and liked it so much that we have ordered a couple more so that we can have one on each floor of the house.

So convenient, wish I would have ordered one sooner. The dogs line up to use it (we have 11) considering getting a second one. Only drawback: Extra large breed dogs cause cant fit head entirely into concave area over bowl causing splash/dribble on floor.
