5.0 out of 5 stars A Trip Down Memory Lane...., April 9, 2008
This review is from: Anjunabeats 100 + From Goa to Rio (Audio CD)
Let me start off by saying that this new release is not what I was expecting, and that was a next volume to either the popular Anjunabeats series or even to the Anjunabeats Worldwide series. You get neither on this release. Instead this is more of a greatest hits complilation that the Anjunabeats Label has had it's hand in. To some people this might be a major let down if you were expecting new material, but as for myself, I liked siting back and remembering some classic trance tunes from 2000 till 2007.

I can see some reviewers giving this a lower rating, but IMO I cant bring myself to giving this a lower rating. The track selection is flawless and though some of the tracks may be outdated to some, I have no problem remembering the feeling I had when I first heard some of these tracks. A good example for me is OceanLab's "Sky Falls Down". One of my alltime favorites and I'm sure you will all have a bit of the same feeling as well.

Here's the tracklisting
Disc 1

Cara Dillon vs 2 Devine - Black Is The Colour
Super8 & Tab - Helsinki Scorchin'
Above & Beyond - No One On Earth
Boom Jinx feat. Key - Eternal Reminiscence
Tranquility Base - Razorfish
Alt + F4 - Alt + F4
OceanLab - Beautiful Together
Sunny Lax - P.U.M.A.
Rush & Murray - Epic
Daniel Kandi - Child
P.O.S. - Summer Sun
Nitrous Oxide - North Pole
Aalto - Rush
OceanLab - Satellite
Super8 - Alba
Above & Beyond - Alone Tonight

Disc 2

Anjunabeats - Volume One
David West feat. Andreas Hermansson - Larry Mountains 54
Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor - Air For Life
Aalto - 5
Maor Levi - Reflect
Signalrunners - Aria Epica
Luminary - Amsterdam
Endre - Kallocain
OceanLab - Clear Blue Water
Smith & Pledger - Believe
Nitromethane - Time To Die
Above & Beyond pres. Tranquilty Base - Surrender
OceanLab - Sky Falls Down
Jono Grant vs Mike Koglin - Circuits
Matt Hardwick vs Smith & Pledger - Day One

There you go. I hope the tracklisting helps. Oh! Before I forget, the DVD is really nothing to write home about. It's about 45 mins long and the full description of it is in the comments section. Overall it's not a bad deal for 15 bucks to get 2 CD's AND a DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its a Compilation!, May 7, 2008

This review is from: Anjunabeats 100 + From Goa to Rio (Audio CD)
Above and Beyond releases Anjunabeats 100 as a COMPILATION of the best of the FIRST 100 tracks that their amazing label has releases since its inception.
It is stange that some people are dissapointed that no new material is released. It is obvious that they did not read their press release as for the reason of this new cd compilation.

A good buy for people that want a bunch of amazing singles, that have PREVIOUSLY been released.
So, if you already own the tracks, its probably best to skip this one, and if not, get it, after all, it is their milestone album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the best Trance Music compilations out there, May 18, 2010
This review is from: Anjunabeats 100 (Audio CD)
I can keep this simple, Above & Beyond are extremely well known (for those who listen to trance & melodic/trance). This is simply a great compilation of 30 of their best songs (chosen by them however, it is not a "fan-favorite" or anything).

For those of you who know them, I highly recommend this if you do not own most of their separate work already. Otherwise, this is a very fast and easy way to acquire some of their best work without buying $100 worth of albums.

For those of you who do not know them, except rich melodic trance and regular trance/dance music. The beats are loud and original, the (female) vocals are entrancing and melodic, and overall, it is just a great value for money. This is a great place to start your trance collection, and start with some of the best. If not, look into Armin Van Buuren or Tiesto, the two main known artists of the genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars A journey of sound - this 2-CD set is an unforgettable experience., May 28, 2009
This review is from: Anjunabeats 100 + From Goa to Rio (Audio CD)
I can't rant enough above Above & Beyond's contribution to trance and how advanced their label Anjunabeats has been since 2000. Above & Beyond have taken Anjuna to the next level by mixing the best tracks into a real adventure of melodies, beats, and warm synths. It's timeless and fresh.

The level of consistency in the tracks signed by Anjuna is extraordinary, and you can tell b seamless transitions of 'older' tracks and new. This is a solid 2 CD set with not a dull moment to be found.

5.0 out of 5 stars Trance at its finest!, January 19, 2009

Hugo Price "Price!" (Quebec City, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anjunabeats 100 + From Goa to Rio (Audio CD)
One word, epic! It has all the best tracks from their anjunabeats label, but its certainly not like any other mix disc you will ever hear. Apart from the State of Trance discs this is not a continuous mix, instead they blend the tracks at the last couple of seconds. If you are a dj like myself using this disc to mix isnt difficult like the State of Trance or Thrive Mix cds. The only cons to this album is the case, very fragile and kinda lightweight. Enjoy the DVD too! Only a half an hour but it covers their 1 million person show in RIO.

5.0 out of 5 stars It takes your breath away, July 11, 2008
This review is from: Anjunabeats 100 + From Goa to Rio (Audio CD)
I have always enjoyed A&B's mixes and productions, but this compilation is a great start for those who want to become familiar with their work. Most of the tracks are what I would like to consider "melodic" progressive trance. If you enjoy trance with beautiful female vocals, this is a must have. The talent is great, Zoe Johnston, Justine Suissa and Cara Dillon. The mixes do not fail, it keeps the energy level to a max without missing a beat.

This CD is great for late night driving, getting ready music, or even for work.

Buy it now!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Anchor CD in a changing soundscape..., September 17, 2009
This review is from: Anjunabeats 100 (MP3 Download)

Since discovering the world of Trance I've bought and downloaded plenty of albums and almost all of them have been worth their price.Somehow this particular compilation is always my "Go To"album;the tracks and their mix arrangement never seem to get old.Above and Beyond have succeeded in creating an infinitely listenable mix that I personally never get tired of playing as a soundtrack to my daily life. That's awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars "greatest hits" compilation of older tracks, October 15, 2008

If you're just getting into the trance scene, this would be a great CD to pick up as all the tracks were big hits you're sure to enjoy. The Anjunabeats label (i.e. Above & Beyond) puts out some great stuff!

This is not new material so don't think you're getting new tracks on this release. If you want that get Above & Beyond - Anjunabeats 6 which just released, or check out the new releases by Markus Schulz, Cosmic Gate, and Tiesto.
