Simply Amazing, January 14, 2005
This review is from: Anjunabeats 2 (Audio CD)
I've been listening to trance for almost 5 years. Unfortunately, I've never even heard of Above and Beyond until early November '04 when I saw them spinning at a party in San Francisco. They were awesome!! Needless to say, I had to pick up one of their cds and this was it. This album is off the hook!! I knew it was going to be great right after the first song was over. It's perfectly mixed all the way down to the last track. Simply put, it's beautiful "epic dream trance." All the best trance comes from Europe. Everyone knows that. This cd is one of the reasons why!!

Great Song Selection, May 25, 2006
This review is from: Anjunabeats 2 (Audio CD)
I have this and Volume 3. The song selection on them both is great. If you love, or even like, trance, then these are a must-have. The track "No One on Earth"...worth the cost of the CD. Definitely one of my favorite trance tracks of all time. The vocals are amazing. Gabriel and Dresden (although they suck "live") have created an incredible remix here, as so many of theirs are. The mixing on this CD is done quite well, although sometimes the beats from the mixing-in track were a bit strong. I really like the mix between Connected and Taurine...very smooth. The next mix is just as good. I did not, however, like the song order between Circuits and Believe. Circuits is very "strong", but Believe is very "mellow". I would not have put the two back-to-back. I want to be taken on a journey when I listen to a mix CD. My only criticism of this disc is that I was not. All the songs are good, but the production was lacking. Overall I give the disc 4 stars.

Great CD, but track listing wrong, February 10, 2008
This review is from: Anjunabeats 2 (Audio CD)
First of all, this is a great mix, all the songs are top notch. No One On Earth really is worth the price of the album (although you can download it alone from Above & Beyond's website - something I didn't know when I bought this CD). My only caveat is that the tracks aren't in the same order as is listed here, or even as listed on the back of the CD or in the CD booklet itself. When I played it, I found that this CD actually has 13 tracks, not 11. I don't know how far out of order the tracks are, because I only knew one of them before buying it. No One On Earth is actually at track 10, although the back of the CD lists it as 8, and the booklet says it's 9. So if this one's not where they say, who knows where the rest of them are... Anyway, track confusion aside, this is a really great collection of songs - tending toward the deeper, more dreamy, contemplative side of trance - and it's definitely worth the price. And if you've never heard No One On Earth, then you really need to listen to it as soon as possible. It really is the best ever.
