5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This CD is an excellent trance compilation, but rather than buy this and anjuna vol2 separately, buy the 4 CD set 'ultimate trance 3'which includes vol2 and vol3 which are the best two CD's in that set. I've only just realised these were a separate series of compilations. So if you want 4Cd's for less than the price of two ,I recommend buying the other set.

3.0 out of 5 stars Steady flowing, melodic trance, but nothing special.
I'm kind of at a loss, because there are some exceptional tracks on here: the stunning new Oceanlab track, Sirens of the Sea, which offers up a great Balearic remix by Kyau vs. Albert; the new A&B/Andy Moor track Air for Life, which gives you a decent Airwave mix (but I would seek out the even better Mirco De Govia remix); and a new version of Made of Sun by KvA made...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning high energy and melodic trance!, January 1, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Anjunabeats 3 (Audio CD)
The first two tracks were very "listenable," but I wasn't quite sure what I was in for until track 3 began. Above and Beyond's "Air For Life" set the tone for what proved to be a stunning mix of high energy and melodic trance. I was especially mesmorized by tracks 7-14, which were quite "eclectic."

I'm happy to say there are many standout tracks. Besides the highly acclaimed "Air For Life," "Sirens of the Sea," "Alt+F4," and "Time Goes By," I was really drawn into the unique sounds of "Trust Me," "Sequential," and "Resolution." Like I intimated above, you will be treated to some very eclectic sounds. My favorite of all though (at least for now!) is Above & Beyond's "Getting Away." They say in the insert that they wanted to "try something different from anything we'd ever done", and they succeeded big time, with a refreshing track that is sweet to the ears (and to the imagination as well).

This was my first introduction to the Anjunabeats series and it left me drooling for Vol. 4 that I ordered the other day. I am simply amazed that there were no reviews on Vol. 3, so I'm here to tell you to buy it ASAP and immerse yourself in sonic bliss. You will NOT be disappointed!

I must say this cd is nice, but in reguards to dr. trance saying that this cd is not very good and belongs at the bottom of the cd stack... back in the late 90's you were lucky to get one or two good tracks on a mix that sounded as good as sirens of the sea. And as for the track time goes by... super8 is one of the best new producers and remixers. You need to go check out the other mixes of that song on vinyl, their chronic! Now in reguards to the examples of mixes that you THINK blow this cd out of the water. Miami '05? I admit its ok, but you could go to sleep listening to it and most of the songs are REALLY progressive.Cosmic Gate? Talla 2XLC? These guys produce hard techy songs and remixes! They are very unapealing and harsh to the ear. How could you even compare them to A&B or most other producers on this mix!? Which is why i find it strange that you like Micro de Govia. If this cd belongs in the bottom portion of your trance cd stack i assume you dont have a very large one. I have been collecting trance music, mixes and singles, cd and vinyl, for over 10 years. I do not know how long you have been listening to Trance music dr. trance, but im sure its fewer years than it takes to get P.H.D.

Heard these songs on Pandora and had to get the album. Great beat to all the songs but the greatness is that you can actually relax listening to the BPM. Sound is almost futuristic tribal in tone.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Go Wrong With Anjunabeats!, October 21, 2007

I just can't get enough of Above & Beyond and their excellent label. This album simply proves why both are tops in this genre. From start to finish this is a winner, with really glossy, polished, energetic and pretty tracks, well mixed and well worth several listens to really sink in. It's a melodic journey mostly- with scarcely any vocals (the way I like it) but the three tunes with vocals are really good, from all stars like Justine Suissa (Sirens of the Sea, a hard to find OceanLab track) and Carrie Skipper (Time Goes By- beautiful). Really ecclectic sounds on "Larry Mountains 54" ( the debut release for the exciting sister label AnjunaDeep), "Hijack" (this is a great tune!) and "Getting Way" (a real favorite of mine from the A&B's Tranquility Base project). Also trance stunners like the Airwave remix of the masterful "Air For Life", "Alt + 4F", "First Aid" and the understated but rewarding "Trust Me." All in all, a real gem of a CD and not one to miss for any trance fan or anyone who just would like some really beautiful music to listen to.

This is by far the BEST mixed track CD i have ever had the pleasure of listening to. An amazing blend of progressive, melodic, and chill trance, it will make you cream your pants. With an amazing tracklisting, i have literally listened to every song on the album well over 50 times already! Thank God for Above & Beyond and their amazing label Anjunabeats! This CD stays true to pure trance, while some other mixed CDs have too much filler. easily 5/5

Another good one from Above & Beyond. I'd say better/equal to their Vol. 2 CD. If you like these guys, Markus Schulz, Kyau vs. Albert, Gabriel & Dresden, ... you'll like this one.

I'm kind of at a loss, because there are some exceptional tracks on here: the stunning new Oceanlab track, Sirens of the Sea, which offers up a great Balearic remix by Kyau vs. Albert; the new A&B/Andy Moor track Air for Life, which gives you a decent Airwave mix (but I would seek out the even better Mirco De Govia remix); and a new version of Made of Sun by KvA made especially for this CD, that adds the original track's lost verses of vocals they dropped from their Hard Dub. And just about all the rest of the CD is decent, melodic stuff, but none of it really stands out too much or flows all that well. It's not too fast, not too slow, and it's not bad, but it's not exceptional.

The CD tends to just play and then it's over. It's hard to explain it further, but when I compare it to other trance mix CD's I currently have, this one has to be put at the bottom of my playlist, because it's just not moving enough. One track I really don't care for is the Carrie Skipper vocal track, Time Goes By.

If you don't believe me, just go and buy these other CD's and tell me they don't all blow this one away in terms of pace, theme, and energy:

Miami '05-Markus Schulz
Techoclub Next2-Talla 2XLC & Kyau Vs. Albert
Back to Back Vol. 2-Cosmic Gate
For You-Johan Gielen

I guess I expected much more from these guys, after all, their 2004 Essential Mix was a bar to which other sets must be judged. They don't even come close to it with this mix.

I really like Above & Beyond, but this CD is not up to snuff. I would still consider purchasing it though, as it is not a bad listen at all, and just getting the new Oceanlab track is practially worth the price alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Trance CD I've heard in 2005, July 23, 2005
By
This review is from: Anjunabeats 3 (Audio CD)
I have to comment on this cd based on the other review I saw here. I don't usually comment but this time I made an exception.

I just bought Tiesto's ISOS4 album. It was ok.
I bought Ferry Corsten's Passport album. It was pretty good.
I bought Armin Van Buuren ASOT 2005. Lots of vocal stuff but all in all a good mix.
I bought Markus Schulz Miami '05. I love Markus Schulz.

But Above and Beyond ****in ROCK! They are really something else and should be an aspiration to all the other djs out there that sample their work. This CD is one my ALL TIME favorites at the moment. I can't stop listening to this album. Almost every song on this album moves me in a way where I can stop bobbing my head.

The album starts off with Ozgur Can's hardest ever remix of Yilmaz Altanhan's "Eighties" a phat ass track in its own right. David West's "Larry Mtns 54" is an awesome blend to follow up and really keeps you moving. "Air for Life" is simply a classic now and "Sirens of the Sea" at first I didn't like until I heard it the third time and especially when I saw Above & Beyond live in LA. OMG that track is soooo phat! "Hijack" the next track makes me want to jump and jump until I can't jump anymore. SO much energy in this track! Another exceptional track is the Smith & Pledger "Northern Lights", I fell in love with this song the very first time I heard it. You will too. The SUPER8 DEEP MIX of "Time Goes By" is soooo beautfil after the build up and puts you in a wonderful state of trance. Personally I like the Ave Mea remix better but "Trust Me" by Lucas & Beltram is another very cool track on this album. "Getting Away" is a beautiful track, "resolution" is ok. But the Kyau v. Albert special remix of "Made of Sun" is sooooooo sick!!!!! I don't care if I look silly singing it out loud in my car or at home. I can't get enough!!!

This album is simply a MUST have for any trance fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars So many good tunes in one album, not bad mixing., March 17, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Anjunabeats 3 (Audio CD)
I bought this album mostly because of the great selection of tunes that were available in one cd. The mixing was'nt too bad hence the 4 stars, but it made sense ($) wise to get so many good tracks in one album. Some songs like 'sirens of the sea' havent even been released digitally yet so it made sense to get them on this cd.

My Favourites:
Eighties (Ozgur Can Remix) (4/5)
Larry Mountain 54 (Original Mix) (5/5)
Air For Life (Airwave Mix) (5/5)
Sirens Of The Sea (Kyau vs. Albert Vocal Mix)(4/5)
Alt + F4 (Original Mix) (4.5/5)
Made Of Sun (KvA Volume Three Mix) (4/5)
