Have always had need for multi-button programmable
mouse for engineering & programming work activities. Was
previously using Logitech G700 but button response was
quite stiff and mouse was quite heavy cause it not only
had a battery for cordless use, but is also contained the
battery charger inside (no docking module). For a full
8-hour shift of use, that weight and stiff buttons
adds up to "get something else".

Read lots of reviews then decided to give this a try. That
was very good pick! Top main buttons and upper side buttons
on this mouse are exceptional..low resistance with tactile
feedback, very precision feel, Lower thumb and right side
button do require a little more force but still quite
acceptable. Side-to-side wheel buttons are firm enough
to prevent accidental click when wheeling. The wheel
has distinct low force tics, nice shape profile, correct
size, and a positive feel texture. Over all mouse is
perfectly sized and shaped for extremely comfortable
ergo fit for medium size hands. DPI rocker button behind
the wheel seems intentionally stiff which is nice, but its
location so far behind the wheel is a major oversight.
It would be MUCH more functional located in front of the
wheel.

A major concern for me related to the programmable
capabilities. The Anker-5k software is intuitive enough
to figure out in short order without tech docs, and is
very functional. Was able to assign "Ctrl-DblClick-
Ctrl-C" to button for frequently used engineering
CAD/CAM application. User names for button macros are
very limited in length making descriptive names nearly
impossible to use.

I bought this a week ago and have been using it everyday. At first I was a little disappointed because the mouse was so light and I thought that the little weights would not make a difference, but then I put all of them in and I am loving it! With all of the weights in, it is the perfect weight for me and it allows me to have better control over the mouse especially for playing certain FPS games. I love the DPI settings that you can change depending on sensitivity preference. Certain games I lower it for when I don't need to turn around on a dime and I really enjoy the ability to change the setting at the click of a button. With that being said, the button to change the DPI is a little stiff, but that doesn't really matter to me because I would rather have it stiff than accidentally be bumping it and changing my DPI all the time.
I believe one of the most important aspects of choosing a gaming mouse is to choose one that fits most comfortably with your hand because it will effect how you play a game. This mouse fits my hand perfectly and I do not find myself accidentally clicking other buttons like I do in some other ones. The design looks great as well and I really like how you can change the color of the little anchor symbol. I like how you can change how fast it pulses and also the intensity of the light. The only thing I would wish for is if it was able to change multiple colors at once.
Overall this product is amazing. It is one of the best deals around for the price and I have recommended it to several friends who have tried mine and already purchased their own. Great product Anker! Keep it up!

// EDIT 31 Dec 13 : I felt obligated to update this since I recently decided to try out a mouse I felt reluctant to buy (as a possible replacement to this one) I got the Razer Naga. After about 2 days of use I had to switch back to this mouse. It made me want to give this one 4/5 stars instead of 3. I took a few things for granted about this mouse. One being the concave sides. That's actually extremely helpful when picking the mouse up, moving it, and just holding it in general. I found that I just couldn't get comfortable with precise movements on the naga and still be able to quickly use the buttons. I think I'm going to always keep this mouse as my default or general back-up mouse at the very least when I'm trying out new ones. It's reliable and honestly didn't take long to get used to. \\

This is a good mouse, imo. There are a couple things that I look at when it comes to mice: First, the scroll wheel. I like mine have notches when you rotate it so there is no confusing how much you've turned it. You can feel the notches from the spin and are able to count. In gaming, this is can be important depending on if you utilize this feature for weapon swap as an example. Or if you're scrolling through a website and you don't accidentally scroll down to far because you can't feel it. Also keeps the wheel from spinning if you use the middle mouse wheel button (which I do use quite often)

The light is nice because I can make it red which matches the glow from my keyboard and tower. However, the blue DPI indicator looks a bit out of place. If your setup is all blue then it just makes it look that much better.

Speaking of which, I find that I don't often use it. I generally keep it at the same level and just adjust in-game sensitivity.
