I really wanted to love these little trays. I'm doing all homemade baby food for my youngest child and really wanted a good system for safely and neatly freezing and storing batches of purees. I liked the look of these and was glad to see they came with a lid (NOT airtight, but better than nothing) for easy stacking in the freezer and for limiting the food's exposure to air. I ordered two. BOTH of those original two arrived with tiny (pinhead size) holes in them, one in each tray, as well as a pencil-eraser sized weak spot, where the silicon was thinner, in one section of one of the trays. Amazon has some of the best customer service around and made the exchange for two more super easy, even upgrading me free of charge to next day shipping so I'd have them quick. The next two that arrived were perfect, at least in terms of being hole free. I made a batch of puree and tried them out...when it came time for popping the frozen cubes out to store in freezer bags, I was disappointed to find that they didn't really "pop" out at all. In fact, they were stuck pretty fast in there. It took running the bottom of the tray under warm water to release them. That isn't so much extra effort, but I had really hoped that the silicon would just release the cubes cleanly without any trouble so that I could keep the entire amount totally frozen until needed.

I haven't tried any other baby food storage trays, so I have nothing to compare these to. I question whether they'll hold up well over the long term and I hope that they will. I do like their form factor and it is great to have something I know won't leach chemicals or something in my baby's food.

I've been making baby food for about a month, and I've been freezing it (as it is recommended for longer storage) and this cube tray has made my life much easier!

I've used this AND regular ice cube trays. When you have crying in the background the last thing you really want is to be trying to get frozen baby food from an ice cube tray (the food wouldn't budge out of the regular ice cube tray at all; I nearly threw it out the window in frustration). Luckily for me these silicone cube trays are extremely flexible and the food comes right out.

The fact that you can stack them when full, compared to the ice cube trays, is also helpful when you have very little space in your freezer. No mess under the tray = no mess in your freezer either.

I had originally purchased one; but since I'm making quite a bit of food, I've since placed an order for three more.

Volume wise it holds about the same volume of a stage 1 food jar.

NOTE: the lid WILL NOT make a perfect seal, but it protects the food from any spills you might have and helps you stack them. While some people might be turned off by that, I'm okay with that since I'm making mostly purees that will be used within two weeks. I don't think the product would be as great if the seal would be perfect as the lid would very likely be difficult to get out.

Edit: I just measured, each of the 9 cubes will hold 2 liquid ounces of food.

From the picture it looks almost like a see through green tray for the bottom. It isn't which to me is good. It is more of a rubber product that makes it easier to pop out your cubes of puree. The only thing is that there isn't a line inside the product to let you know where to fill it to, but I assume it should be 3/4 full to allow expansion. The top is a hard plastic top so that you can stack these in your freezer. Very helpful. I did wash in the dishwasher, and put it on the top shelf. It doesn't specify if you can put on the bottom shelf, but I didn't want to chance screwing something up. The container and top came out fine. No shrinkage or warping. Very happy with the product.

It looks like these are mostly used to freeze home-made baby food, but that's really neglecting another fantastic use of them... making the perfect ice for boozy drinks! Using fewer but larger ice cubes means less surface area, so less melted water in your drink. The wife and I have also used these to freeze juice to use as ice cubes for an incredibly boozy, light-your-own-hair-on-fire tiki drinks. I'm sure there are also a myriad of other adult beverage uses that we haven't thought of.

It's pretty easy to clean and the ice is also more easily retrieved out of than a different cube tray we had and got frustrated with. If you get a stubborn one, just grab a butter knife and loosen up the four side, then push from the bottom.

I froze rice porrige in this tray, and it was almost impossible to take it out! Not only the frozen liquid stuck to the silicone, due to the soft material, the frozen liquid buldged in the middle of the tray, making it impossible to pop it out. The only way to take the frozen food out of this tray was by flipping the cup inside out, which took a considerable amount of force and time! I wanted to like this product because of the safe material that is free of bad chemicals, but at the end of the day, it has to be practical too.
