More About the Author

Annabel Karmel is the international best-selling author on baby and
children's food and nutrition and champions the cornerstone message that creating a healthy diet for your children is crucial to their healthy development

A mother of three children, Annabel was inspired to write children's cookbooks following the death of her first child Natasha. Although the illness was not diet related, Annabel was determined to give her second child the best possible start, seeking out only the healthiest foods. Annabel spent two years researching child nutrition and development and interviewing leading UK pediatricians and child nutritionists. She realized that no one had really explored the truth about what babies should and could eat and naturally started creating recipes herself that were both delicious and healthy. She is (resolute) passionate about helping parents provide their babies with fresh food and providing solutions for busy mums who want to feed their family a healthy meal.

With her imaginative approach to creating healthy and delicious food, Annabel is the expert in getting your child, no matter how fussy, to eat a healthier diet ' without them even noticing! She makes it easy to prepare fresh baby food and has developed (tricks) ways to improve children's nutrition on a daily basis, from hiding vegetables in other foods, packing powerhouse lunchboxes and creating healthy junk food . All the recipes are tested on children after all if it doesn't taste good they wont eat it'

Annabel has written 16 books. Her first book the Healthy Baby Meal Planner was published in the US in 1991 by Simon and Schuster and has become the authoritative guide on feeding babies and children. Her best-selling books in the US also include First Meals, Lunchboxes, 100 Top Baby Purees, Favorite Family Meals, The Mom and Me Cookbook. Impressively, every single recipe has been conceived and cooked in Annabel's own kitchen.

A household name in the UK has enabled Annabel to develop ranges for feeding babies and toddlers, food preparation equipment, children's food, baking and party ware. Her recipes are so popular that UK supermarkets now stock a range of her meals. (Annabel is currently working with US manufacturers to launch innovative product ranges for the US market) no not yet

With books sales of over 3 million worldwide, this is likely to grow fast as four new books are being published in the US this year including Baby's first Year Album, The Toddler Cookbook ,Baby and Toddler Food Diary and the Fussy Eaters Recipe Book

Annabel travels frequently to the US and has appeared on many TV programmes including the Today Show, Regis and Kelly, the View, (Rosie O'Donnell Show) NO, ABC Eyewitness News, CBS Early Show and also writes for national US newspapers and magazines including Child Magazine, New York Daily News, American Baby, Working Mother, Quick and Simple and Parents.

In June 2006, Annabel was awarded an MBE, Member of the British Empire, by the Queen in her Birthday Honours List for her outstanding work in the field of child nutrition.

Her popular web-site www.annabelkarmel.com is the number one site on child nutrition with lots of advice, delicious recipes and social networking. She has also launched the most comprehensive and informative online TV channel on family nutrition, with recipe videos, Top Tips and interviews with leading experts. Visit www.annabelkarmel.tv

Simply the best baby and toddler meal planner out there.

I'm afraid it is now dog eared and stained, but it's the only cookbook I own that has really been worth every penny.
Christine Moore
The book is well laid out with clear and easy to follow guidelines and recipes.

I saw this book at a friend's house, who just moved back from the U.K. and bought this book there. We both have daughters who are the same age, and spend a lot of time at each others house. After eating several meals together with the kids, I deceided that their food tasted much better than the things I cooked. The first time I made a receipe from the book, my husband came home and was all excited, smelling the flavours before he even entered the house, hoping this would be our dinner. Sadly, not only I had to tell him that I was cooking for our 1 year old daughter, but in addition fight him off tasting the food.

My daughter is now 2 years 3 month old and I am still using receipes on a regualr basis from this book to cook dinner for the whole family.

I highly recommened, especially for first time moms, who wonder what to make for thir child besides steamed carrots and broccoli. Very healthy receipes that taste AWESOME!!!!

I bought this book along with Lorraine Kellys paperback as I hadn't a clue what to feed our baby let alone how! I really wanted our baby to eat fresh healthy foods so that when she could eat the same as her parents we wouldn't have a battle on our hands. Between the two books this one is my favourite.

The book is well laid out with clear and easy to follow guidelines and recipes. Yes, it takes a while to get the cooking done but it saves alot of money and time in the end(compared to processed foods). The recipes are tasty and surprisingly different - apple in mini burgers (which I thought she'd hate - but loved) and clever presentations that make meal times less of a battle. The end of the book includes recipes that all the family can eat.

Annabel doesn't promise your baby will always eat but she does guide you along with her years of experience as a Mother and a cook.

A real life saver for us. You won't be disappointed.

This book provides great guidelines for preparing and storing baby food. I also like photos in my cookbooks and this book has plenty of them. I can't wait until my daughter gets old enough so that we can try the toddler recipes. Just take note that Karmel is a British author so some of the foods she suggests for babies may differ from what American pediatricians recommend.

This book would have been so great to have from the beginning, but my son is a bit old for the recipes in it. I would highly recommend it for someone just starting solids. There are so many tasty varieties to try.

I first bought this book in 1992 when I was beginning to wean my daughter. When I moved to the U.S. in 2000 I was devastated to discover it had gone missing in the move. I had a 4 month old son, how was I going to feed him without Annabel. Thanks to my mother in law and the postal service we got a replacement and sailed through weaning. I'm afraid it is now dog eared and stained, but it's the only cookbook I own that has really been worth every penny. I have memorised most of the recipe's and we have our favourites, which are probably made at least once a month. Mango Chicken,Savoury Veal Casserole, Mini Shepherds Pie (try it with Minced Lamb),Salmon with Chive Sauce,Mushroom Pasta Sauce, Easy One Pot Chicken. The list is huge and they are all delicious. It's difficult to buy a cookbook not knowing how easy the recipes are or how obtainable the ingredients. Especially if it's for children. Don't worry, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent book. Annabel Karmel is a recognized world author of making infant, toddler, and children's meals. It is easy to use. Breaks things down so you are only learning what you need to know for the age of child you are cooking for. She gives you important information in the beginning that was a wealth of knowledge. It wasn't too much but focused on the important stuff that everyone needs to know. Great quick reference when you are not sure about something. This book has all the recipes that you need. Once you get the hang of it you can tailor it to your own child's likes. I bought quite a few books because I wanted to make all of my own baby food. This is the one that I used. Many of the others I took to the used bookstore. If you are interested in making healthy, yummy food for your little ones this is a must have.

3 children all started eating these recipes as babies... now they are all big kids! We loved this book! It will be packed away with the "babys firsts". This is the best way to feed your child. Real food, with real taste, right from the start. The only problem was potential allergy issues.

When I look for a recipe book, I look for quick, simple and easy to freeze. There are a few recipes that are quick and easy. Most of the recipes require many ingredients, or take more time than I prefer to spend. If you like to be creative and create food artwork pieces then this is the book for you!
