4.0 out of 5 stars Anne of Windy Poplars December 8, 2009
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm still on Anne of Green Gables, but so far have not noticed the omissions of text (including Anne's prayer) that I noticed elsewhere. One thing I don't care for in this version is that it only shows chapter numbers, not names, but at least they are active links and if I had to choose one, I'd rather have full text than chapter titles. -- Of course, Anne of Windy Poplars is missing. I assume that is because it wasn't published until 1936 and is not in public domain yet. It also isn't offered separately for Kindle at this point, but hopefully if enough of us let the publisher know of our interest we can remedy that situation before long!

March 19, 2010: I am at a loss as to the problems people are referring to about the font and the order of the books. I have a Kindle 1, so maybe that is making a difference. Whatever it is, my fonts are fine and the books are proper order. It is true though that Anne of Ingleside is missing. Since that was published in 1939 the problem is most likely the same as with Anne of Windy Poplars. -- You might want to download the sample and make up your own mind about the font and what is and isn't included. I continue to be very pleased with it. :-)

March 20, 2010: Now I see what the problem is. There are two compilations. One has a purple cover and costs $1.00 and the other has a full color cover and costs 99 cents. For some reason, the reviews for the two different compilations have been merged and show up in both places. My review refers to the $1.00 edition with the purple cover. I checked out the sample for the other edition and it really DOES seem to be a mess. So, the negative reviews probably refer to that edition.

2.0 out of 5 stars Love the Book - hate the kindle book January 15, 2010
By Laney
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've read the Anne of Green Gables collection years ago and thought I would enjoy reading it again now. I purchased the kindle book and opened it. From there - things were awful. The font is tiny so it has to be adjusted to a much larger font then all of the other books I have purchased. The books as they are listed in the front of the kindle book are not in order. Anne of Avonlea was the first book listed and Anne of Green Gables was second. Then the font is much more difficult to read than the font than the normal type font used for books.
Although I would love to read the Anne of Green Gables Collection again - I think that I will either have to buy regular books or borrow them from the library.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not in chronological order February 12, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love Anne of Green Gables, but it was difficult to read them in order with this collection. Also, I could not find "Anne of Windy Poplars," or "Anne of Ingleside" in the collection.

2.0 out of 5 stars Font very difficult to read January 16, 2010
By DLynn
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love the Anne books. But this compilation does not have the standard Kindle font. It looks like it was done on an old manual typewriter. I deleted the compilation, and went back for the individual books. They're fine (and free).

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Version of a Wonderful Collection May 18, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
DO NOT buy this. It's poorly formatted, the books are in the wrong order, and there is no table of contents to allow you to jump between books. This shouldn't even be allowed to be sold.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book! November 20, 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
this is a dreadful version of a wonderful series. It is not worth a penny. Impossible to navigate, tiny font, no table of contents, and out of book order. I want my money back!

3.0 out of 5 stars Windy Poplars and Anne of Ingleside March 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I just wanted to let anyone with an iPhone or Android phone know that I found the two missing books on the Nook app, for three bucks each, and the app is free just like the Kindle app. So glad, I was sad to think that I would have to skip some of them!

1.0 out of 5 stars Such a good idea, Such bad execution September 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm reading an hour a day to our severely injured adult daughter.
We both love this series and will be forever grateful to one of our
daughters-in-law for recommending it by giving us a paperback of the first
in this series, Anne of Green Gables.

I have a Kindle and thought it'd be lovely to read all the rest
of them to Jenny. Today, I'm retiring this particular collection from the Kindle and getting
another version. It has been a misery to try to use.
In this collection, the books aren't in chronological order. I can find no way to navigate
around, other than to hit the page turn button some # of hundreds of times
because it thinks there are thousands of pages, counting it as one book for
all of them.

It hasn't been worth the trouble. I'm very sorry I got it and think
Amazon shouldn't represent it by selling it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best books ever
Quite a title, but Lucy M. M. had a magical writing ability. Not too poetic that it's ridiculous and unreadable - just beautiful. Anne Shirley will always stay with me.
