A rare book that is WELL WORTH THE MONEY!,
By
This review is from: Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat: A Graphic Novel (Paperback)
I first became involved with the Vampire Chronicles when I saw Interview with the Vampire six years ago. I loved the film and I really liked Louis, Claudia, and Armand. I HATED Lestat. I thought he was a evil monster with a black heart. I read Interview with the Vampire eight months ago and I still hated Lestat. I hated him so much that I skipped The Vampire Lestat and started reading Queen of the Damned. I saw the graphic novel of The Vampire Lestat in a used bookstore a month or two after I read IWTV and I looked through it. I was amazed at the beautiful artwork and I realized that there was more to Lestat than I thought. (He was not as evil as I thought he was before. He is good and evil. A living contradiction.) After I saw the Graphic Novel I saved my money and I bought it a few weeks later from the same store. I read the novel and I was completely blown away. It is PERFECT. It is dark and beautiful and it becomes very real as you read it. As you read the book Lestat almost makes you wish that you could be immortal. He also shows you that he is a complex character that cannot be labeled. (Most characters in movies and books are two-dimensional. They are either "Good" or evil" and that is what makes them dull. Lestat is everything and nothing and that is why he is fascinating.) Lestat is great because he is a perfect contradiction. (He is strong but he is weak. He is independent but he is dreadfully lonely.) I read TVL novel after I read the graphic novel and I now love the Lestat character. This graphic novel is impossible to find! It is out-of-print and it is VERY hard to find! You HAVE to buy this graphic novel if you have the chance. It will quickly become one of your most treasured items and you will be really glad you bought it if you are a Vampire Chronicles fan. If you don't buy it when you have the chance it will most likely become like the infamously insanely hard to find THE CROW graphic novel by James O'Barr. (A great book I would kill to have.)

I'm actually in the middle of reading this book, but Anne Rice has captured me. With her exciting and terrifying tales of what's beyond our comprehension. The Vampire Lestat is the sequel of Interview with the Vampire and tells the story of the vampire who created Louis, the main character in the previous book. I think This sequel is better than the first one. Because I can see the landscapes and situations described so clearly in my head. My mom can't understand what's so great about vampires. I think the freak her out. Well, there's not really anything great about them. They're disgusting. But at the same fascinating. I just think man will always be fascinated by the supernatural. I sure find these vampires intrigueing. They're not like Buffy's vampires, brainless bloodsuckers. They are intelligent and special. Wondering what they are and why they exist. These books also deals with questions about life and death, Heaven and Hell. I can recommend them very much. I'm gonna have to read the rest of her books too. ***** out of ***** stars. Definitely.

Why I would become a vampire....,

This review is from: Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat: A Graphic Novel (Paperback)
Personally, in reading The Vampire LeStat I found in myself a new understanding of the world at large. I never have been so moved by a book of hopeless dreams. In my estimation this book moves one to dream to become a vampire if only to be looked upon by LeStat himself. This book completely engrosses the reader in the life of one man, a saint, a monster, a soulful creation of evil embodied in a beautiful vessel. I mourn for LeStat, I feel for him, and I join him in his journeys each time I think of the book. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in vampires. Anne Rice creates a brilliant look into the meanings of vampirism and in me has created a level of existence possible for not only immortals, but mortals as well

Anne Rice's "The Vampire Lestat" is a great book in and of itself, and I definitely reccomend reading it - however, not as a graphic novel. I am a huge fan of Anne Rice, but I'm also not prejudiced against the graphic format either. In fact, I love comics in any form. However, this graphic novel is a huge disappointment. The script is amazing, Faye Perozich manages to convey the wonder and excitement of the original book, but... The art is terrible. Lestat's face in many instances looks ugly and deformed, which directly contradicts the book - in fact Lestat was chosen for vampirism for his good looks. Marius, who was once a proud Roman Senator, wears a mullet. Armand looks all right at first, but when the book revisits the events told in "Interview With The Vampire", he looks positively hiddeous. Do yourself a favor. Don't waste your money on this. If you absolutely must have an Anne Rice graphic novel, buy "The Tale of the Body Thief", which is just as good a story, and much, much better art, which reminds me of P. Craig Russel at times and focuses on the lushness and beauty of Anne Rice's world.

Lestat is self absorbed and a little to arrogant at times but a hauntingly beautiful person.his defiance and devil may care attitude leave you with the idea that he is despertly lonely and only wants someone to hold him and tell him that everything will be alright. we wait for him to speak again and take us on another journey into the unbeliveable and the very beliveable through his eyes.

If ever there was a more powerful, intruiging book the raters would have to create a sixth star As this is a book that deserves no less than five stars. 'The Vampire Lestat" took me on a mystical journey to realms of imagination I never thought were possible. It is possible to fall in love with a creature of the night.

This is such a great adaptation of the original novel... however I suggest reading the real novel first (the graphic novel got confusing at some points). But if you love vampires, comics and anne rice then this book is for you...

Although abridged, this was a GREAT interpretation of Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat. The art in this book came very close to my interpretations of her descriptions in the novel. Now, they need to make The Queen of the Damned into a graphic novel!!!

I would personally recomend this book to ANYONE! It is full of vivid imagery and detailed descriptions of a mind bending, all-too real charecture, Lesat de LionCourt. This book takes it's reader inside this Vampire's head, into his dreams, feelings, and world, so compleatly that you begin to loose touch with reality if you read this book too long. It needs no pictures really, for the graphicly depicting descriptions will have powerful images running through your head as you race through it to see what happens. Written by the always wonderful Anne Rice, this book grips you and will change how you percive the world forever.
