Excellent cd but has one big disappointment,
By Missy Musto (Clifton Park, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Annie (Original 1982 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
Don't get me wrong; this cd has excellent songs and even included ones I never even thought would be on the cd. My only complaint is that they include a shortened version of Maybe. Then don't sing the second verse of the song. You never hear "betcha he reads, betcha she sews, maybe she's made me a closet of clothes..." and the climatic end of the song. My 4 year old and I were both so disappointed that this was done. I can't image they were short on space on the cd. My daughter and I sing that verse all the time and we couldn't believe when we put the cd in, played the song, and then it ended so abruptly. I just don't understand. Other than that, the song selection is awesome and this version of the movie was by far the best made.

Best "Annie" Soundtrack I've Heard!,
By Elizabeth Forrest (Coos Bay, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Annie (Original 1982 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
As a recovering "Annie" addict, I'd say that this soundtrack is easily the best recording of all the "Annie" soundtracks available. Though the vocal arrangements aren't as stellar as the ones on the OBC's recording, the orchestral arrangements are amazing.
Take "It's the Hard-Knock Life" for example. The other recordings can't hold a candle to this one, as they don't have the extensive dance breaks. Carol Burnett's portrayal as the drunken villian Miss Hannigan is just as hilarious on the soundtrack as it is with the movie itself. The woman is a genius.

My Inspirational Musical,
By Budget's Gal (Kearns, UT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Annie (Original 1982 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
I grew up watching the movie version of 'Annie' and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, one of my first songs to sing as a child was 'Tomorrow'. My father taught it to me when I was 2 years old and I can hear myself on tape they recorded. I was diagnosed with the disease Neurofibromatosis at the age of 4 and was told I had six months left to live. I am now 26 years old and I am lucky to be here. Anyway, Make a Wish Foundation found out about me and asked what I wanted. Of all the things a little girl could ask for, I wanted to see the musical Annie on stage. Although I don't remember the musical itself, it still left an impact on me. The song 'Tomorrow' still tugs at my heart strings and it still gives me hope for another Tomorrow.

ANNIE REVIEW,
By
This review is from: Annie (Original 1982 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
I grew up in an orphanage as a child. When I was adopted, my parents showed me this play. I have loved it ever since, Annie seemed real to me back then. When ever I was sad I'd listen to the Annie record I still have. I still listen to Annie songs over and over again. Annie changed my life, now I am an actress, and I love every moment of this life that Annie gave me. It is an exquisite play, everyone should see, young and old.

Nostalgic escapism,
By "meltess" (South Bend, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Annie (Original 1982 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
I saw the original Broadway production of Annie in New York, along with several touring versions, and, despite a lot of negative reviews from film critics and other naysayers, I absolutely LOVE this movie. I can be stressed out, sick or in a bad mood, but watching this film always makes me tap along to the music and put my problems in perspective. I always stop and watch Annie whenever I come across it while channel surfing; I'm 28 but haven't outgrown this movie and hope I never do. Along with providing me with an outlet for escapism, Annie also introduced me to the great versatile talent of Albert Finney, leading me in recent years to check out his many other films. I've also seen Bernadette Peters on stage and listened to her many recordings. This movie also sparked my interest in history, especially the Depression, the New Deal, the 1930s, the Roaring Twenties. Annie may not have won elite critical acclaim, but it has brought a lot of people a little bit of happiness. What more could you ask for in a movie?

Buy This Cd!,
By Fannie Flagg "Marissa" (Springfield, Ohio usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Annie (Original 1982 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
Everybody on this cd is great! They should put the songs in order that they were in the movie. That's the only problem. Other than that, everything's great. Aileen Quinn is a unique Annie! She was a cute little girl. She should have continued her career. Carol Burnette is The best Ms. Hannagin. The cast is great for their roles. Buy this cd!

First my children, and now my grandchildren love to sing along with the cast of Annie while travelling in the car. They were all huge fans of the movie and watched it endlessly at home. One way for us to keep them occupied in the car for our long drives from Ct. to NJ was to sing along with Annie. Now it's the grandchildren's turn and it still works like a charm.

I LOVE ANNIE (1982),
By
This review is from: Annie (Original 1982 Motion Picture Soundtrack) (Audio CD)
I'll make this short and simple. I was 7 years old when Annie hit the big screen, it was instantly my favorite. I got the record, my grandma made me all the dresses from Annie dress patterns. I was in my own little Annie world for years and loved every moment. I always go back to the Annie songs from 1982, I've heard others, but in my opinion they don't even compare to the Annie that I first heard.

my daughters (5 & 6) love this Annie movie, it was the same one I watched as a child. We decided to buy the soundtrack as they loved to sing all the songs. All the songs from the movie are included.
It's worth nothing that this movie version and sountrack ARE different from the Broadway musical. SOme of the broadway songs have been excluded and some new songs created for the movie added in (Dumb Dog comes to mind). This soundtrack wasn't re-recorded just for this, it was taken directly from the movie, so there is some dialog in the beginning of some of the songs. Overall, it's a big hit in our house. |
