5.0 out of 5 stars A Gorgeous Surprise
After listening to a lot of mediocre forgetful cast recordings, I happened to find this one at the Pasadena CA Library. Wow! What a discovery! Every song is a winner. Charles Strouse has written one hummable memorable melody after another, and the dialog bits between songs allow you to follow the plot, something that most cast recordings don't allow. A real shame...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that bad
This isn't that bad. The songs are catchy. Annie gets a little annoying, she is no Andrea McCardle. I don't reccommended buying it, but definetely try to get a copy to listen to once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Annie Warbucks, July 15, 2002

The soundtrack for Annie Warbucks is very hard to find, probably due to it's unsuccessful run off-Broadway. Even though it wasn't popular in 1993, I love the CD! All of the singers are excellent! My favorite songs are "It Would Have Been Wonderful," "Leave it to the Girls," and "Changes." The lyrics are wonderful and full of emotion and expression, and the music will keep you humming all day!... It's a wonderful CD and I would recommend buying it! You won't be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars ALENE ROBERTSON IS COMM. DOYLE!, April 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Annie Warbucks (Original Off-Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
I have this C.D. and I recommend it to ANY Broadway Listener! It is recorded like an old time radio show and EVERYONE will LOVE Alene Robertson's performance. There is a Typo on the Song Selection and Artist's name...Alene Robertson sings "Above The Law".....She is the reason to buy this C.D.
She's a true Diva!
Does anyone know where I can buy more of Ms. Robertson's C.D.'s?
Ethel, Move Over!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good Musical though not an outstanding one, May 25, 2001

Well, one thing`s for sure, it`s not such a smash hit as Annie 1 happened to be: the - up to now - latest Strouse-show Annie Warbucks has got a few sprinkling and sparkling songs as for instance "Above the Law", "I got me" and "When You smile" but do not compare it with "Tomorrow", "NYC" or "Little Girls" - it just can`t meet it. The reason why I`ve given five stars is that Strouse`s Musicals, even if it`s a comparatively mediocre one, are still by far better than a lot of the shows played on Broadway today which get much more apreciation. Well, anyway, I`m already looking forward to "The night they raided Minskys", Strouse`s next show that is going to open within the next year...

3.0 out of 5 stars Musicals fan from Hampshire, UK, May 3, 1999

Except for Kathryn Zaremba (as Annie), most of the singers are in great voice on this recording. Half the fun of this CD is comparing the musical numbers the original. For fans of Annie, it is a gem, but is not one you would listen to over and over.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not amazing., August 9, 2002

I'm a big fan of Annie and Annie Warbucks, but truth be told, this isn't the best show. The songs are generally lacking, and they aren't as tuneful as the original Annie. The singing is great ( yes I even like Kathryn Zaremba, chimpmunkness and all). The tunes from Annie 2: Miss Hannigan's revenge had more tune, and that show sunk. Not that A show with great songs can't fail. I'd recommend this to people who enjoy the show Annie and want a little more, but not people who are expecting this to be musically as nice as the original.

The show itself isn't too bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, August 13, 2005
By

I'm not reviewing this CD for the musical efforts of the people who recorded it. I want you community theatre people to know that this show is absolutely wonderful. The music is great, tuneful, and fun. Our theatre did ANNIE and a year later did ANNIE WARBUCKS. I'd loved both; but I loved the music in ANNIE WARBUCKS more and the story line was interesting. We had a great cast with great singers in our show. Don't be afraid to do this show.

I really love this CD.I think it expresses how the orphans(especially Annie)feel. I think that the best song on that CD is "It's a hard knock life!"
