Product Description

About the Brand

Annie's Homegrown is a good company with good people that makes good food and does good stuff. From the beginning, Annie impressed upon us the necessity of operating responsibly by giving back to the community. Because if you don't take care of the folks who are taking care of you, everything gets ugly. And anyone who thinks an ugly planet is a healthy planet is a wackadoo. Annie's motto: Eat Responsibly. Act Responsibly.

Annie's Homegrown has stayed committed to its goals even as the company has expanded. With distribution in all 50 states, it's become the second-largest brand of macaroni and cheese in the U.S. And in their own words: "We know we're the first most delicious."

History of Annie's Homegrown

After creating Smartfood in 1982, one of the fastest-selling snack food products in U.S. history, Annie Withey co-founded Annie's Homegrown in 1989 with the idea of making a great-tasting, all-natural macaroni and cheese. In the end, though, she did a lot more than that.

In 1998, Annie's Homegrown was the first to develop and introduce three amazing kinds of organic macaroni and cheese. At the end of 2001, Annie's introduced a line of certified organic pasta, dressed up in a lovely bright purple box. And in 2005, Annie's introduced three flavors of Deluxe Mac and Cheese, four awesome flavors of organic crackers that they call Cheddar Bunnies, and three flavors of graham crackers called Bunny Grahams, made with organic ingredients.

Annie continues to be the inspirational leader of Annie's. She works from her home in Connecticut, answering some consumer letters and providing input on new product and marketing ideas. She remains the company's corporate conscience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bunnies Trounce Goldfish July 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase
I have enjoyed "Goldfish" and other cheese-based snack crackers since I was a child, but no more. I tried these Cheddar Bunnies as I have enjoyed other products by Annie's, and have now found my all-time favorite snack cracker.

From a nutritional standpoint, they are better than many competing products as they have no hydrogenated oils or artificial flavors, and are made from organic ingredients, including real Wisconsin cheddar cheese. The packaging does an excellent job of preserving freshness, the taste is natural and very refreshing for a snack food, and the price is comparable to other non-organic products.

I am completely satisfied with these crackers: the are a good value, they compare favorably in the nutritional realm with competitors (although they really don't qualify as "health food," of course,) they taste fantastic, and last but not least, they're fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Natural Cheese Crackers - Great for Snack Mixes June 7, 2006
"...made without hydrogenated oils - which is a good thing since it's difficult for our bodies to absorb trans-fatty acids that come from hydrogenated oils." ~box

These are definitely natural snack crackers to bounce around about. I mean, it is so rare to find even natural foods without hydrogenated oils. I can't count the times I've read labels only to be disappointed to find that "natural" does not always mean healthy.

Ingredients: Certified organic wheat flour, expeller pressed safflower oil, aged cheddar cheese (contains milk, salt, enzymes, cheese culture), salt, yeast extract, paprika, annatto extract (for color), ground celery seed, onion powder, yeast.

I've made my own cheese crackers and these really do taste homemade. About 24 tiny crackers will satisfy any cheese cracker craving and that is about 70 calories.

These crackers are Bernie the Bunny (Annie's beloved mascot) approved. They are also made with only vegetarian ingredients. I love the cute rabbit shape and you can add these crackers into snack mixes with pumpkin seeds, chocolate chips, dried cranberries, GeniSoy Soy Nuts and anything else you can think of including sunflower seeds.
