The end?,
By N. Durham "Big Evil" (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Annihilation, Book 3 (Hardcover)
The annihilation wave has made it's impact, and in this third hardcover collection, the surviving intergalactic warriors prepare to make a last stand. Silver Surfer, Nova, the Super Skrull, and Ronan are about to face down Annihilus with the universe hanging in the balance, with the impact set to reach even greater heights. After two collections of what seemed like lead-up's to the main event, the full, main Annihilation mini-series is collected here, and it's worth the anticipation, mainly thanks to a universe shattering smackdown between Nova and Annihilus. In many ways, the whole Annihilation event is more enjoyable than Marvel's other high profile mega event, Civil War. Then again, when you've got a guy like Keith Giffen (the creator of DC's Lobo, so he knows a thing or two about intergalactic comic book operas) at the helm, you pretty much know you'll be in for something good at the very least. The art throughout is solid as well, including work from Teen Titans artist Mike McKone and Andrea DiVito among others. The only real downside is that when the end comes, it feels as if the story isn't over yet and that there's more on the horizon (and there is, naturally), so you'll be left wanting more regardless. That being said, this third hardcover Annihilation collection is an essential pickup if you've enjoyed the previous collections that led up to this, and in that case, you'll want to see how it all pans out anyway.

Annhilation ends; Conquest begins...,
By Elvis Zombie "Dustin" (Angola, Indiana USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Annihilation, Book 3 (Hardcover)
All hell breaks loose! Nova leads a remnant of heroes in a losing battle against the unstoppable Annihilation wave. All hope seems lost as Galactus and Silver Surfer fall into Annihilus's hands. Thanos seems to be the only thing standing between Annihilus and the destruction of two universes. However, Drax will not be denied of his goal to kill Thanos even if it means the end of life for everyone and everything. Ronan confronts the corrupt House Fiyero as the resistance falls apart. If you haven't read book 1, do yourself a favor and pick it up. Annihilation is the best thing going on at Marvel right now. Forget Civil War and everything else. This is the must read event of 2006. Annhilation: Conquest is starting and is sure to be the must read event of 2007.

The Action-Packed Conclusion!,
By Zauriel (Tennessee) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Annihilation, Book 3 (Hardcover)
The first two books of Annihaltion carried the mini series this one though it's got it all the main series the meat and potatoes of the story. Annihilation was slept on as far as big events overshadowed by Civil War but, far and away the better event. In this final book Nova and the rest of his Warriors prepare for the final battle against the Annihilation Wave if they fail Earth is directly in the waves path. Great read and awesome finish to the event.

This book was better than Civil War... easily. As grand as Civil War was, this story takes place on such a larger scale. Do yourself a favor and buy this book

An almost Perfect ending 9 & 1 Half Zap Guns.,

This review is from: Annihilation Book 3 (Bk. 3) (Paperback)
This is a total dirty bomb of a book of a book with lots of nasty wonderful suprises and a almost satisfying ending to the least enjoyable jackass villian Annihilus. Which unfortunately is a title and not a singular character, so there are more Jackasses in the sea or in this case the negative zone. Other wise pure cheing satisfaction in every mouthwatering, tender beffy page of this InterGalactic Planetery Space Battle Extravaganza! nine and a Half Zap Guns out of 11 Zap Guns Born To Teleport!

Main Annihilation story really strong!!,

The first two books of this collection were hit and miss for me but this third book really hammered home how good Marvel cosmic can be. There was solid stroy-telling from both art and writing. The thing that this avoided (except for the Heralds extra 2 issues) was there was no "big concept" cosmic stuff that bores the crap out of everyone. I really enjoyed how the story ended and look forward to Annihilation: Conquest!

Annihilation succeeds where Marvel's Civil War failed. Civil War was boring, poorly written, and hard to swallow. Annihilation in comparison is a great book that actually has some believability to it and a real sense of jeopardy for the heroes involved. Plus, it breathes some new life into some cosmic heroes/villains that have been on the back burner far too long at Marvel.
I highly recommend this book.

Annihilus is the will! Annihilus is the way!,

Annihilus is forever!
Hearing all the raves for Annihilation, Marvel's event in the spaceways, I got the last two trades for it. Collecting Annihilation #1-6, Annihilation: Heralds of Galactus #1-2 and Annihilation: Nova Corps. Files, BOOK THREE sees the conclusion to the event, and let me tell you this: it does NOT disappoint. There's so much that goes on in Annihilation, I'll give you a broad rundown on why it's worth your 17 bucks. -GRAND-SCALE MOMENTS: You can tell that the Annihilation War is epic. Gods (Galactus) are desecrated. Civilizations (Xandar, House of Fiyero, Skrull Empire)are destroyed. Pariahs (Ronan the Accuser) are restored. But best of all, these radical changes are ADHERED TO. This means the change in the status quo REMAINS the change - if the Supreme Intelligence is killed, then it STAYS dead. You can count on artistic integrity from writer Keith Giffen. -STRONG CHARACTERS, STRONG RELATIONSHIPS: Keith Giffen is an expert in garnering emotional investment. Whether it's showing Drax's fervor to kill Thanos or Nova's need for revenge in the name of Nova Corps., you'd have a hard time NOT caring about them. The villains have wonderful personalities as well: megalomaniacs (Annihilus) are absolutely, endearingly in fact, fixated on destroying everything and ruling what remains, while strategists (Thanos of Titan) inject sardonic wit into the epic, while heralds (Ravenous) see the punishment for their crimes! Each character has their own story within the Annihilation story, adding depth to the epic. The only complaints I have of this book is that artist Andrea DiVito is a slight step down from Annihilation: Silver Surfer artist Renato Arlem, and that Annihilation: Nova Corps. Files (an encyclopedia, essentially) is dry and unenjoyable. Also, there's a great number of characters involved in Annihilation. It might be confusing to keep track of them all, so don't read this book unless you've read at least one of the other trades, or the major plot points from a website or blog. Try out Book 1 to see if you like the flavor, and decide then to embrace it or not. If you embrace it, you're definitely in for a hell of a ride. Overall, strong plots with well-written characterization. Marvel in space is looking mighty bright, and your 17 bucks are definitely not wasted here.

An overall good story,

This is the last part of the Annihilation story and the conclusion and wrap-up of Annihilus's attack on our (Marvel) universe. I enjoyed all three volumes of the story, but Book 3 not as much as Book 2. This is not to say the story ended badly; in fact I thought it had a great Marvel Sci-fi, exciting, universe altering ending. I just think Book 2 had more action, and the wrap-up stories at the end of Book 3 didn't excite me, while spending time setting up future series.
