5.0 out of 5 stars Ken Griffin On The Wurlitzer Organ
We older citizens all remember Ken Griffin and his beautiful organ renditions. Though he died in the mid 50's at the untimely age of 46, the wonder of his music continues. We heard it at the skating rinks, on the radio, and from his numerous albums and singles. Five Stars is a conservative rating for these 24 wonderful songs in Ken's unique style.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ken Griffin's 78s Classics
I wish there were a CD that have some Ken Griffin's old recordings from 78rpm records from a earlier organ era from the 1930's. My favorite organ song is "Tiger Rag", not the famous jazz one.

Organ renditions of the old favorites are nearly unavailable today. This CD combines two of his most popular albums of these favorites. The albums were "Anniverary Songs" consisting of 12 songs including Because and The Anniversary Waltz. The other album is "Skating Time" which presents another 12 of his favorites such as Twelfth Street Rag, It Had To Be You, and ST Louis Blues. You will enjoy listening.

I was pleased to purchase this CD of Ken Griffin. It is a very typical and good example of his nostalgic style of organ music. I am, however dissappointed that some of his big hits like Kookoo Waltz, Side By Side and You Can't Be True Dear are missing from the selections on this two album CD. Wish there was a CD of his bigest hits available.

If your Mom and Dad made you take organ (or accordian) lessons in the 1950's or early 60's, then you will enjoy this cd. While some people consider Ken Griffin's style to be boring, I think they would have to admit it's also relaxing. I used to go to a roller skating rink in Fort Dodge, Iowa where they endlessly played Ken Griffin tunes. I wasn't a very good skater and his style kept me upright...but I digress! If you like "Hammond style" organ music as I do, then this is an excellent cd. Enjoy!

Until they put out a "Best of"........or something like it....it won't be complete without Griffin's Columbia instrumental recording of "You You You." Played it a thousand times on my grandfather's turntable as a kid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Organ Music From the Past, February 22, 2009
This review is from: Anniversary Songs/Skating Time (Audio CD)
Ken Griffin's beautiful organ music was a favorite of mine in the '50's. My sister and I played his records over and over. I was happy to find I could buy a CD of some of his songs. I hadn't heard Ken Griffin's music in many years, and it is even more beautiful on a CD than it was years ago on a record. Some of the tunes are "Anniversary Waltz", "Always", and "Barcarolle" (From Tales of Hoffmann). Unfortunately, my favorite "You Can't Be True, Dear" is not on this CD. I bought a CD for my sister, so she is enjoying Ken Griffin music too!

I purchased this CD for my mother-in-law who is in her 80's. She loves it so much. She meet my father-in-law in a roller rink while listening to this music. Now that he is gone, listening to this music brings her back to her happy times of dating him. She was so surprised to see that it was still avaiable.
