This review is from: Anno Domini (Audio CD)
primitive, ripping first wave black metal from hungary notable for its uniquely searing leadwork that suggests a collage of influences ranging from baroque to classic heavy metal, and attila's vampiric vocal approach that would later be put to more operatic use in the band mayhem. this important artifact foreshadows second wave black metal's love affair with tremolo picking and chaotic arpeggios. "elizabeth bathory" is the album's most well known song and obvious highlight, a galloping, mournful epic that transcended the emotional scope of underground death and thrash metal of the late 80s. check it out or forever remain a loser.
