5.0 out of 5 stars It's not just a simple counting book, April 24, 2010

This review is from: Anno's Counting House (Hardcover)
Like many of Anno's works, this book has an added level of complexity. It isn't just a simple counting book. As the ten children leave one house and move next door in this wordless book, young readers can count how many are living in the first house. Then, they must use that information to figure out how many are in the next house before turning the page to peek inside. In doing so, children get to practice all the combinations of numbers that add up to 10. Essentially, figuring out the missing number is the simplest kind of algebra - the kind even a kindergarten student can learn.
