5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book
I personally found the comment helpful. I would also like to recommend a recent jewel I found, An Encounter With A Prophet. In my humble opinion this book had to be written by someone in recovery and really good recovery!

1.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment
I was extremely disappointed in this book. The number of spelling and typographical errors was distracting--I found it difficult to focus on the text--and the annotation is very confusing. Finally, the comments are merely the compiler's opinions, although the implication is that they are authoritative.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Big Book Explained, November 3, 2001
By A Customer
I have always found the meaning of the text of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous hard to decipher but Frank D's book provides excellent reference notes that explain the Big Book in plain English. An added bonus is that it has made me read the Big Book again a number of years after first reading it.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it especially if you are relatively new to the 12 step programme of AA when the mass of information that is supplied by the Fellowship can be quite bewildering.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Remarkable Wonderful Tool, August 26, 2004
I have tried to be a careful student of the Big Book for many years. It is the most important book in my life. This volume is an invaluable tool for studying the Big Book. It's comments are clear, insightful, and helpful. It is clearly the product of years of study. The author keeps the comments brief, accurate and writes with style of deep humility that comes from practicing this program over time.

I rate this book as one of the top three tools to study the Big Book. The other two are Joe and Charlie tapes and e-AA, an electronic vesion of the Big Book with concordance, subject index, original manuscript etc from anonpress.org.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best step work book!, November 12, 2002
By A Customer
This is the best step workbook available. It has helped me gain a much deeper and broader knowledge of the 12 Steps and the program of recovery suggested by AA. I heartily recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Masterpiece!, August 11, 2001
This is a duplicate text of the first edition of "Alcoholics Anonymous." Stories from the second edition have been added. And there are literally thousands of cross-references to the third edition of "Alcoholics Anonymous." This means that the reader may read the third edition along with this book concurrently. Hundreds of explanations are given throughout and cross-referenced with the third edition. The hundreds of explanations provide a wonderful addition to the main text of "Alcoholics Anonymous." Many people seem more than a little confused by the ambiguity of the main text. This addition is a Godsend for readers who want more meat and potatoes to the skelton. Of course, this skelton is kept to a minimum by AA itself in order to keep to the original program as written out in 1939. Unfortunately, the fattening out project itself, filled out by meetings and sponsors, can be a bit confusing and dangerous to the beginner. This wonderful book provides in-depth knowledge of the program without losing anything of the content. It is to be read along with the third edition. Don't be cofused. Don't be led awry by wolves dressed in sheep's clothing. Instead, buy this wonderful gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! - New Edition is Perfect!, September 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Annotated AA Handbook : A Companion to the Big Book (Paperback)
I just purchased my second copy of this book. I gave my first copy to a woman I have sponsored for 10 years. I have learned so much from this book about how to actually work the steps. Comments are tied to passages in the Big Book explaining the meaning and page and sentence links tie ideas together throughout the book. This must have been an incredible amount of work to put this book together. I especially liked reading the first edition stories. While my first copy was worth the work it took to read it, my new copy has all the typos fixed and is really much easier to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Annotated AA Handbook Review, January 17, 2007
By
I am very pleased with this product, and candidly it was much more than I expected. The author obviously did his research homework.

In the Family Afterwards, Chapter IX, the author of the Big Book, descibes the recovering father as discovering a new treasure and states "He may not see at once that he has barely scratched a limitiless lode, which will pay dividends only if he mines........"

The Handbook is a valuable resource to me because I am interested in continuing study of the Big Book. I would recommend this book to others willing to follow through on the references contained in this valuable work.

I commend the author for his effort.

Shipment was timely , the book was in excellent condition
