5.0 out of 5 stars I laughed, I cried, I kissed 15 bucks goodbye...
Please buy this CD. I don't care what kind of music you listen to, there is something on it to offend you, annoy you, and/or make you collapse into helpless, gibbering hysteria. I originally bought this to send to a friend, to get even with him for sending me "Philosophy of the World" by the Shaggs. Well, he'll have to get his own copy, because I'm keeping this one...

2.0 out of 5 stars Annoying, really.
The music on this cd is wonderfully odd and terrible. It's a great collection in that sense. What's not so wonderful is Jim Nayder's own commentary, some of which literally interrupts the tracks. To be fair, I've never listened to his NPR show, and I bought this cd for the music and not for him. But I find his comments unnecessary. People who buy this cd are probably...

What a load of exquisite rubbish! The standouts are the hilarious "My Bathroom is a Private Kind Of Place" and the tortuous "Why Doesn't Daddy Come Home?" which fried at least ten percent of my brain cells and spoiled all the food in my refrigerator. It's all oddly compelling, like a bad car wreck--you know it's horrible, but you just can't turn away. It's evil, it's wretched, it's awful, it's practically apocalyptic...and I loved it.

Half of my hearing is gone from listening to way too much loud music in my misspent youth. While listening to this CD, there were moments when I wished it were ALL gone. You will too. Whether you know it or not, you NEED this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Annoying Music Solves My Gift Giving Dilemma!, June 11, 2000
By
This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
As a teacher, graduation time has usually meant a long search for special student & co-worker gifts that are different, personal, and memorable (and under $20!) This year, I decided to give a gift that NO ONE would forget. The Annoying Music CD. What a hit! It not only generates big belly laughs and "moans" as it's unwrapped, I found the CD to be a fantastic "conversation starter" at the dozens of graduation parties I'm currently touring. Everybody starts to argue about "what's the most annoying song ever recorded" and "did Bob Dylan atually sing with Tiny Tim?" (he did and the CD proves it!) My students seem to appreciate that I recognize their sense of humor, making the gift more personal than a traditional graduation gift such as blank notebook to "write your journal this summer" etc! Annoying Music is also educational . . . it teaches my students how not to practice and achieve lasting fame! Thanks Jim Nayder & NPR for solving my gift dilemma this

year. Hmmmm I've got a couple of weddings coming up . . . do you think!

5.0 out of 5 stars I laughed and cried at the same time which is not easy., February 19, 2000

This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
I first learned about annoying music when I heard Jim Nayder interviewed by Scott Simon on his NPR program. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Singing Sisters from Syracuse, Lorn Greene attempting a bosa-nova version of As Time Goes By, and a love ballad to a bathroom? It was so funny & amazing I couldn't turn it off. When I heard there was a CD of this annoying stuff, I jumped at the chance to buy one for my unsuspecting friend. Amazingly we are still friends (I think) When I heard the actual CD I had to buy another one for myself, because I think it will keep the burglars away. Go for it. It's like taking a ride on a new and exciting roller coaster. You scream, laugh, cry, cover your head . . . and then you want to ride again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings Annoying To A New Artistic Level!, October 26, 2000
By

This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
I have long admired Mr. Nayder's efforts on NPR to bring only the most annoying selections to his audience, which proudly includes me (and in fact my entire family gathers around the radio each week). We were thrilled to find his CD of great, ugly, annoying music, as well as highlights from the weekly show. I especially like the following "classics" on the CD . . . "Juanita Banana" by J.R. Corvington, "Hey Jude" by those Fabulous Conti Kids, "Mindsticker" by Mr. accent, Manfred Voss, and of course "Jail House Rock" by the deposed Abdala Bucaram, who I'm certain was deposed because of his singing talents, or lack thereof. I could go on, there's so many awful tracks, but I think I need to lie down. This CD should be heard in small doses, or when you want uninvited guests to leave. Keep up the great work Mr. Nayder!

They don't need to be constantly reminded how funny these songs are by someone who's not so much funny as he is... annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! Holiday Shopping Finally UN-Annoying!, November 4, 2001
By
Lisa Bonavich (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
I always dreaded the start of Holiday shopping season, which
seems to begin earlier and earlier. But believe it or not, I've
just about completed my list, and I never had to leave the house (in fact, leave my bedroom). Finding the stunning NPR Radio show's Annoying Music CD, which I've enjoyed (perhaps survived is a better word?), on amazon was a God-send, and I'm an agnostic.

The music(?) on this CD is so horribly beautiful, it makes you laugh till you are tearing up like a tired cat. Simply, I ordered annoying CDS . . . and now have great, funny presents for my co-workers, my nephew, 4 friends around the world, my brother, and a former boss I really don't like (he has NO sense of humor!)
And honoring my right to be lazy, I had them giftwrapped at amazon by the amazon elves, or elvises?

And to mix up the annoying gifts-I also found the Annoying Music HOLIDAY CD here at amazon, which will also take care of a couple of December birthdays, not to mention Hanukkah and Christmas, &
obscure holidays I have never heard of ("Christopher Columbus
Discovers DISCO?") And you have not lived a complete life until you've heard the Chutte Middle School Orchestra's version o MacArthur Park. For 10 minutes, they are so close to hitting the right notes, in-between drum solos and parents cheering wildly, that I thought I had been transported into a David Lynch movie. You couldn't recreate this music (not that you would want to!) as it is as complicated and annoying as setting a VCR, or opening the celophane wrap on a new CD. And to be honest, I bought the Annoying Music CDs for myself, as I might want help clearing my home of guests, when those folks on eggnog just won't leave. Now, I wonder if amazon sells earplugs?

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Jim Nayder's Annoying Music Show on NPR & CD!, October 18, 2000
By
This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
Thanks to NPR for having a great sense of humor and airing the annoying music show across America. My NPR station is KUT, Austin, Texas and I am a huge fan of Jim Nayder and his annoying music show each week. I have also heard his appearances on Mr. Scott Simons Saturday news program, and you guys are great! I was hoping this CD would not only have Jim's awful music selections, but some of the highlights of the actual show. It's the perfect mix! Some of Jim Nayder's funniest comments, and then 12+ full music tracks too. I hear there's an annoying holiday disc coming too. Can't wait to be annoyed again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jim Nayder's Annoying Music, February 17, 2000
This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
This is the most annoying music CD I have ever purchased. I listened to it in the car with my daughter. It almost caused an accident as it was so annoying, it brought me to tears.

This makes a great gift for those hard to buy for relatives and enemies alike.

BUY IT - LISTEN - and WEEP

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT ONLY FUNNY . . . BUT A GREAT SOUNDTRACK!, June 8, 2000
By
Ken Hanson (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
I bought "The Annoying Music CD" for it's laugh-out-loud bombasts (that just keep coming and coming) and then realized I also had the perfect gift for my brother's 25th wedding anniversary. In putting together a video of pictures and home movies of their 25 years together for their big celebration, I used Mr. Nayder's annoying music as the video music soundtrack. Oh my God. Lorne Greene's "As Time Goes By" . . . "MacArthur Park" by that hapless middle school orchestra, Tiny Tim & Bob Dylan's "I've Got You Babe" (a real gem!), and Sweden's Elvis doing "All Shook Up!" were the perfect juxtapositions to the pictures of my brother and sister-in-law, snuggling, playing, and growing older together. [...]Without a doubt it made our "anniversay video" the hit of the party. This CD is truly a gift that keeps on giving . . . and annoying. If a blissfully married couple can survive this, they can survive anything!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great collection! Annoying Squared!, October 22, 2000
By
This review is from: The Annoying Music Show's The Annoying Music Show CD (Audio CD)
The annoying CD by Jim Nader has music so bad, it's great. I especially liked the beautiful love ballad to the bathroom, the Singing Sisters of Syracuse singing "Chloe", (frightening when they burst into that kazoo instrumental), and the stunning duet by Tiny Tim & Bob Dylan of Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" And that's just scratching the surface (or chalkboard?) The show highlights are a riot too. Great bonus, especially the angry phoners into NPR about the show! If you love serious attempts at music gone a-muck, you'll love to hate this compilation.
