Branching out from its already successful cookware line, Anolon’s Advanced collection features high-grade materials with substantial weight. This 17-piece set leaves nothing to be desired as it packs almost every shape of kitchen knife available. The set includes: an 8-inch chef’s knife, a 6-inch boning knife, a 3-1/2-inch parer, six 5-inch steak knives, a 9-inch bread knife, a 5-inch serrated utility knife, a 7-inch santoku, an 8-inch slicer, and an 8-inch carving fork. A 10-inch sharpener is included for daily honing and polishing the knife blades. The set also offers a pair of forged kitchen shears for cutting poultry or string. All pieces fit into a handsome bamboo block, which features an additional slot for one extra knife. Though the serrated blades (bread and utility knives) and the hollow-ground or "dimpled’ blades in this set (santoku and slicer) produce nice clean cuts, the other cutlery is slightly dull right out of the box. Immediate sharpening on a fine steel is recommended before using these knives to bring their edges to a sharper and safer angle for exact and injury-free cutting.

Advanced Collection knives feature blades forged from high-quality German carbon steel that resists rust and food stains. The stainless steel is ice-hardened for additional strength and longer edge retention. Blades are then polished with glass to produce an edge that is meant to be simultaneously sharp but smoother to the touch. Full tangs and counter balance caps provide superior balance, while rounded blade spines add more comfort during extended periods of prepping. Ergonomically-shaped handles with cushioned non-slip Santoprene padding offer a secure, comfortable grip--even when cutting with wet hands.

These knifes are great. They are sharp, well balanced, feel good in your hand, look very nice. Washing by hand and towel drying results in no staining or spotting. One accidently went through the DW on high heat and came out fine. I feel it was a good deal, especially at $60 less from "[...]. LOL

This is a fantastic set of knives! They are well balanced and have rubber grips that don't slip out of your hands. We especially like the feel of these knives (somewhat weighty, but not too much). This set has every tool we need, including two knives with hollow blades.

Although in the first set we received the knife block had a two inch strip of a wood putty/filler repair from the factory, Amazon.com had a replacement set in our hands within two days. The replacement set was flawless, and we're extremely pleased.
