Warning: Not the same thickness or weight of the 10" and 12" sold alone skillets,
This review is from: Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch and 12-Inch Open Skillets Twin Pack (Kitchen)
I went to Macy's and compared this twin pack to the sold separately 10 and 12 inch skillets; the skillets in the twin pack were much thinner and lighter. This twin pack may be a good deal on its own, but know that you're getting light weight skillets. The scam is that neither Anolon nor Amazon mentions the difference in design.

I have several Anolon Advanced pans and skillets and like them all very much. There is nothing 'wrong' with this set, but the pans are NOT as heavy as some of the other pans. I was initially disappointed by that since I really like the hefty feel of my other Anolon Advanced pans. That's why I'm giving it a "Almost Great" rating. I will say that the pans do seem to work just as well as the others I have. And the quality seems just as good. I DO wish, however, that it had been noted in the product write up that these pans are not the same thickness/weight as the others. So, if you are picky about things like that as I am, then this is your warning. If you don't care about weight or thickness, then I'd say you will love these pans. Again, the quality is there, the nonstick works great, and they are wonderful to work with. For those new to Anolon Advanced, be warned that you absolutely can NOT use high temps on any of the pans. Preheat your pans to a medium setting first and you'll have the best results. These pans DO hold temperature really well and will get very hot, even on a medium setting. Enjoy!

I've used Anolon Advanced for years and needed to replace 3 of my pans. I ordered them offline after reading the description which was described exactly as my original pans but alas, they're not. The 10" is almost 1/2 the weight of the original pan and I don't like the feel of the new non-stick pans.. it's very rough. I will return these and look to another line of cookware for the same weight pans that Anolon used to offer. What a shame, I loved my Anolon cookware!

I was delighted at the price of this item, as I had purchased the same brand years ago and had worked through the teflon on some of my saute pans. What arrived was not at all the same quality or heft of what I had before, even though the brand is exactly the same. This pan is still well made, but I don't get the same sense of confidence that it will heat evenly as I do with the older models of the same pan.

A Disappointment,

I bought these and the Anolon Advanced 8-Inch Open French Skillet, sold individually. They are nowhere near the quality of the 8-inch. They are lighter than the 8-inch (6 lbs total vs. 4.4 lbs). Also, unlike the 8-inch, the non-stick surface is gritty, like fine sandpaper. Returned the twin pack without using them and bought the Anolon Advanced 10-Inch Open French Skillet, sold individually. It's 4 lbs, and I assume the non-stick surface will be more like the 8-inch. Decided I didn't need the Anolon Advanced 12-Inch Open French Skillet, sold individually, which is 6.6 lbs.

Terrible Coating,

I read the reviews of this skillet set and disregarded the naysayers. The pans that arrived at my house were lightweight (clearly not the Anolon quality of the past) and the nonstick coating was horrible. I purchased the set mainly for eggs and to fry various items without oil. The first day I tried scrambled eggs. They stuck to the pan worse than the skillets I had just thrown away. The second day I fried shrimp for a curry. No matter which way I turned the pan on the burner, one side got hotter than the other. These pans are going back and I'm on my way to Costco for a better/lower priced set. I don't return Amazon items very often, please believe me when I tell you that these pans are not worth the money.

Not What I Expected,

These pans are not the same heavy quality as the Anolon Advanced pans that I bought in a set. Even though they are 10 and 12" the actual cooking surface area on the bottom of the pan is a lot smaller because the pan is shaped more like a bowl. I also ordered the 14" because I make large amounts of food at a time for a large family and this was also the case with the cooking surface area of the bottom of the pan. I am very disappointed in these pans.

I have a set of the Anolon cookware and need replacement fry pans. After checking the local department stores for comparable pans, finding them to be very lightweight, I ordered these believing I was getting the same high quality.I could have purchased the same lightweight (the weight seems to all be in the handle) teflon-coated pans locally at any time, but it appeared that the "Advanced" Anolon was similar to the ones I had....not a chance. The original 10-inch fry pan I have is quite a bit HEAVIER than the 12-inch fry pan I received today and most cooks know that trying to fry in lightweight pans is tricky. I don't feel like taking the trouble and paying shipping charges to send them back, so I'll chalk this up to experience...I have lighter pans and a lighter bank account to show for it.

I usually buy top quality cookware. I went through Magnalite which didn't turn out to be very good. I then bought Caphalon pans which were excellent and nicely priced but have come to the end of their life and the new "Contemporary" line of Caphalon is much lighter than what I wanted to replace. So I came to look at the top line of Anolon 12" and 10" pans but together they cost $135 on Amazon which is $85 more than this set. I'm reluctantly coming to the conclusion that non-stick pans have their limitations .... You can't use high heat and they have fairly short life spans no matter how well you care for them. The heat limitation kind of makes the weight or build quality meaningless. The only factor is how long they stay non-stick. I just couldn't pull the trigger on the heavy $135 pair of pans. These pans are light weight but they're well made. I have a Caphalon 10" omlet pan which is equivalent to these pans. We'll see how well they hold up in the long run. If they last half as long as the heavy ones, I'll still come out ahead. There is one big difference between these pans and Caphalon. The bottom surface on the equivalent Anolon is much smaller. I measured the 12" as having 9.5"s across the bottom. The bottom flares up and out to the top rim where they are measured. You better take a close look at your current cooking habits because this could be a real problem. This seems to be true for the more expensive Anolon pans too. The Caphalon Contemporary line has a larger bottom surface and can go to 450 degrees in the oven. I've barely used the new pans so I'm starting off with three stars and will try to update later after heavier usage. A word to the wise. If you're going to cook meats or foods which need caramelizing add a 12" cast iron and a 12" stainless pan and you'll be covered for all situations.

These are excellent skillets and an amazing deal for the pair. They're heavy-duty (but not too heavy to handle), heat evenly, are easy to clean and attractive. They are deeper than most skillets I have used before, and the sloped sides make it easy to lightly toss veggies or whatever you're sauteeing, sort of like a wok. The 8" is great for omelettes. I was not familiar with the Anolon brand but based on this purchase I am definitely impressed.
