5.0 out of 5 stars Functional, stylish cookware that's affordable., September 24, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Anolon Advanced Clad 12-Piece Set (Kitchen)
I originally had a more expensive set of Calphalon that I just never got on well with. The hard anodized finish could not be put in a dishwasher and was prone to scuffs and scratches (see my review of the Calphalon One set). Great cookware, but a headache to clean and care for. After looking at nearly a dozen different sets here on Amazon, I chose this one by Anolon.

This cookware appears well-made and cleans up easily. The silicone/rubber handles are the most comfortable I ever encountered on pots and pans. Each piece in this set is built like a tank. I honestly believe these pans could take a bullet and keep on cooking. The downside? Tanks are heavy, and so is this cookware. But you get what you pay for. You could buy a much cheaper, lighter all-aluminum set that will be warped/worn out and look like crap in a year or two, or go ahead and make an investment that will last for a generation or more. Best of all, this set of Anolon is dishwasher-safe. That cuts your clean-up time considerably.

Yes, there are better sets available, but not for this price. If you really, REALLY do a lot of cooking ( or own a restaurant), go ahead and invest in one of the more expensive sets. But for a great, durable, all-around set of everyday-use cookware, Anolon Advanced Clad should fit the bill nicely. Price-wise, Anolon fills a void between the cheaper sets by Farberware, Circulon and others, but still less than the high-dollar sets by Calphalon and All-Clad.

5.0 out of 5 stars heavy-duty and high-quality cookware for a great price, June 23, 2010
This review is from: Anolon Advanced Clad 12-Piece Set (Kitchen)
I've been using my set for 7 years now, and I'm still pleased as punch! For a price tag that's not terrifying, you get a great set of cookware that gets you through just about everything. I like it better than Calpholon, which was more finicky to take care of. It's nice and heavy, has great heat distribution, and it's easy to clean. Beautiful, shiny surface that's easy to maintain, comfy handles... what more could you want? I did buy one additional larger saucepan to round out my set, as the two included are on the smallish side.

The only other pots I use are a couple of Le Creuset French ovens and a large nonstick skillet. I donated all the rest to Goodwill!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set to add onto, December 5, 2010
This review is from: Anolon Advanced Clad 12-Piece Set (Kitchen)
I'm stingy with stars but I really love this set, too. The best feature is the silicone handles, which is welcomed after having handled (the NON-heat resistant) all-clad cookware and dumping them off to a friend who's only into kitchen porn. I am all too happy to leave the mysogynistic kitchen crap to the global-knife-wielding, leather-clogged mysogynists of the world, thank you very much. I have babies and sh*(&. Compared Anolon with Cuisinart, (all-clad), Farberware, Fissler, etc.

One note of caution is that although the description indicates "ovenproof up to 400 degrees" I put a casserole pot (purchased separately) in 350 oven and the silicone grip detached from the stainless handle. So, I've been a bit wary to put them in the oven since then.

The 10 and 12-inch twin set open skillets, the 12-inch covered stirfry, and the 5.5 inch kyotsu knife have been great add-ons. I use the 10-inch skillet and knife everyday. I wish a 12 qt stock pot had been made to complement the set but I have now settled on the Cuisinart Contour Stainless 12 Quart Stockpot with Cover.
