A stirring western romance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am writing this review to warn all readers who consider buying it: yes, do buy it, but don't read the reviews here, at least not the earlier ones. They are full of spoilers and give away an essential part of the plot, which nobody should know beforehand. It is one of the most surprising twists in any romance novel, and to know it will seriously detract from your reading pleasure. That said, the book is a real gem and definitely worth checking out. It is the sequel to SUNSET EMBRACE and closely connected to it. The protagonists are Banner Coleman, Lydia and Ross' daughter, and Jake Langston, one of their best friends. Logically, Jake is quite a bit older than Banner, but the age difference is protrayed very sensitively. He carries a lot of emotional baggage, but Banner is the perfect match for him. Basically, the novel is about their instant attraction, his trying to fight his feelings and Banner's efforts to win him over. It sounds simple, but Sandra Brown's unique, lively style, a set of fully developed secondary characters, touching love scenes and exciting twists and turns make this book stand out. It is a keeper, worth reading again and again. Despite being written in the 1980s, it has truly stood the test of time.

LOVE SANDRA BROWN, HATED THIS BOOK!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'VE TRIED TO REVIEW THIS BOOK FOUR TIMES! I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG, BUT HERE I GO AGAIN! From the start I had probelms with this book. What Banner did to persuade Jake to make love to her was despicable. To use his feeling for her mother(Lydia) against him and ask him to use her(Banner) as a substitute? What kind of a self respecting lady would do that? I can understand that Banner was young and was in need of comfort, but she should have been woman enough to persuade Jake on her own. Then she makes Jake spend the majority of the book trying to convince her that he loves her and not her mom! As if that wasn't bad enough then Ross(her Dad) is killed. Was this so that the author could show once in for all that Jake only loved Banner? What a shame that Lydia would have to suffer so much because of an insecure selfish daughter. I HAVE LOVED ALL THE OTHER SANDRA BROWN BOOKS I HAVE READ, BUT IN MY OPINION THIS ONE WAS WRITTEN BY THE AUTHOR'S EVIL TWIN!

Very good,
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
A friend had given me this book because someone left it at her house. I love almost all of Sandra Brown's books, have exhausted the libraries supply and own many of her works. I had put off reading this because I hadn't read Sunset Embrace, the prequel. When I read that, I fell in love with Ross and Lydia and am hoping to own that book soon.So I finally read "Another Dawn"...and I truly enjoyed it. I liked the age difference, and I loved that I got to see "Bubba" - or Jake - again. I can't really find anything wrong with this book...other than the end. What happens in the end...truly disturbed me. I was sitting at the kitchen table sobbing, quite loudly, and I could barely read for the tears in my eyes. The end, which was a complete surprise, is still with me weeks later and I can't quite get over it. I would definitely suggest reading "Sunset Embrace" first, though. "Another Dawn" was NOT disappointing.

Very Good Book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a picky reader and keep VERY few books I read, but this one I have. I found the plot to be very interesting and it's one of the better sequels that iv'e read. I thought this book was better than Sunset Embrace, probably because I liked Jake a lot better than I did Ross. Even in the first book Jake was my favorite character. I also liked Banner, yeah she was a little spoiled and very stubborn but I think she made for a more interesting heroine because of it. I know everyone is horrified by the ending, but as one reviewer pointed out, Ross had been an outlaw and killed people, so he did have it coming. I suppose if you really loved Sunset Embrace it would be almost impossible to like this book. All in all, I would definetly recommend this book.

I should have listened to the others...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read all of the reviews here before reading this so I knew what was coming, but I liked SB so much that I thought it would be worth it. Wrong. It's because she is such a good writer that I care so much about her characters, and the "surprise" plot twist in this novel - even though I expected it - was so upsetting that it distracted me from the story of the main characters and I almost couldn't finish it. Ms. Brown must have known that her decision to include this would bother many fans - I wonder if she knew it would sour some of us on her work for good?

Heartbroken,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
I should have checked the reviews at Amazon before I read this book.It would have saved me from heartache. I agree with the three other reviewers, this was a disappointment.Painful to be precise. Miss Brown, for unknown reasons killed a wonderful hero from Sunset Embrace. Why???? I want to know. Heroes, especially someone as wonderful as Ross, live forever in the minds of readers. I want my happy ever after. Any chance the death of Ross can be scratched from the story? I mean not the particular page torn off like what me and my sisters did. Can it be rewritten? Will Miss Brown do it? Please...

If you loved Sunset Embrace, don't read this one,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved Sunset Embrace and when I picked this book up realizing it was a sequal, I was excited. It just didn't live up to Sunset Embrace. I can say it since another reviewer let the cat out of the bag, but when Ross died, I couldn't believe it. Why?? It ruined the entire story. I hated it!

wahhhh-boo-hoo-hoo,

This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Brown you cannot do this to Ross Coleman. Lydia's life have been so sad already, why can't you leave her alone and let her have her happiness. She had been raped by her step-brother, see her friend get killed by that step-brother, and almost lost Ross when it was discovered that he is a gangster in his youth named Sonny Clark. It is not fair to let Lydia lose her Ross now just when everything is perfect for her. She is well loved by her husband, children, and friends. When I read of Ross's death I forgot that this book was suppose to be about Jake and Banner the book's main characters. I was shocked that Ross could die. I could not get it out of my mind that a great guy like Ross could be killed by some no good jerk who just wants the reward money. How could a hero like Ross be killed by a guy who is not worth a penny? How could a hero die? That is not right. Ross did not deserve to die. Priscilla, should be punish for her evilness but not Ross, never Ross. Does Amazon.com have any way of contacting Ms. Sandra Brown and let her know that some of her readers are very disappointed and heartbroken over Ross Coleman's death?

A good sequel,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
I don't usually read historical romances, but after reading 'Sunset Embrace', I had to try 'Another Dawn'. I must say that the idea of an 18 year old girl and a man old enough to be her father was at first unappealing, but the romance between them was great. The love scenes were hot and I loved the development SB did with the secondary characters too! I felt for the Coleman family at the end and teared up a bit. If you like old west romance, then this is definitely a book for you.

Long Live Ross!!!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Dawn (Coleman Family Saga) (Mass Market Paperback)
Noooo!!!!! This is the worst book I've come across. My favorite hero from Sunset Embrace got killed. Why? Why Miss Brown? I cried. He is a very special man. He is supposed to stay with Lydia and live happily ever after as assumed in Sunset Embrace. Please, Please, I am begging you, rewrite the book please. My hero might not be perfect but he deserves to live...in the book and in my mind. I still want my happily ever after. Me and the other 3 who have reviewed this book. Promise I will give Another Dawn a glowing 5 stars (double even!!!!) if the book can be rewritten. Do I sound desperate here? I am. It broke my heart...
