perfect little melancholy pop songs, November 14, 2004
This review is from: Another Day (Audio CD)
Pure, melodic, non-juvenile pop is a dying art. Pop doesn't have to be Britney and Justin. It used to be Dusty and the Carpenters and, for the better part of their career the Beatles. Among the few who carry the banner today is Norske girl Lene Marlin.
Put aside the jokes about someone from Norway being named Marlin: This young lady writes perfect little melancholy pop songs. Some will win you over immediately like Sorry and some will take a while like Faces, but they will all get there. Anyone who reaches this level at such a young age has the potential to become something special.
Potential aside, she's already quite good. This album has absolutely no filler (Her debut , Playing My Game, had a little) and the lyrics are more refined and poignant to the point that they remind me of songwriters like Carole King or Roberta Plack.
In short- if you like pop, melody or soft words, you will like this album. If you like artists like Krezip or Crowded House or David Gray or the Jayhawks you will like this album. If you have a heart or a pair of ears you will like this album.

ocassional diamond, February 8, 2005

This album is worth the price just for the song "My love".Its constructed simply,Lenes voice carrying the song, you cannot miss the emotion, shut your eyes and feel what it is like to be humaan and alive. If this song is worth 5 stars the rest of the album is 4.9! Others have said this before me,but the rubbish being released by the record companies today almost made me give up buying music, this album has restored my faith, this is honest music.

the best cd in a long time, April 6, 2004
This review is from: Another Day (Audio CD)
i've been lene marlin's fane since her first album, and i was really looking forward to her second album. it was a long wait but it was worth it!! after listening to it, i think that it is the best album i heard in a very long time it is even better than her first (which was also amazing) her lyrics are so beautifull and soft she has a way of reaching out and bring you in to her world. lene writes all the music herself.
i recomend this album to anyone who loves beautifull lyrics with great soft melodies to match!
