Ah, another day in the domestic paradise of the mid twentieth century woman. Cleaning, laundry and shopping to do, dinner to make - it's a good thing Anne Taintor is here to tell us what's really going on in those (now) unfathomably cheesy adverts from the 1940s-60s. The photos are artful and quaint, but it is the captions that are the showcase of this set. The captions are cleverly turned with a healthy dose of mild, PG13 sarcasm and poke fun at society's portrayals of the female domestic role without sounding bitter. Highly recommended for that witty, sarcastic and only slightly jaded special someone you may know.

These cards are hilarious. There are a lot I've seen before, such as the Domestically Disabled picture. But there were so many I hadn't seen yet as well! All of them really funny. I really was tempted to keep them for myself and get more for my friends and family.

I have purchased a number of Anne Taintor cards over the years, individually in museum shops. This boxed set contains the same images, but the printing is not the crisp, bright, and enhanced-reality sort of work that I've seen before. On the other hand, they are a lot cheaper than the individual cards.

A really lovely collection of 30 postcards, all funny, sarcastic, and so much fun to send to friends. I'm not an expert on postcards, so I cannot say much about their actual structure EXCEPT that I love the curved corners and they seem to be thick and strong. My singular complaint, and the reason that I give this only 4 stars, is that I also have the "I feel a sin coming on" collection, and there were several repeats of the ones in there. Ah well. It is still WELL WORTH the money spent.

Bought these for my wife. They are hilarious! Some are risqué and some mean-spirited; but the majority will have you laughing out loud. My wife puts them in a frame in the kitchen and changes the cards periodically. Ours however arrived damaged but still usable.

If you like Anne Taintor's snarky housewife style, you'll love these postcards - they are so fun to send to friends! The postcards are good quality too.

I bought these not really expecting much, but I love Anne Taintor. What a great surprise when I opened the box. They are so well made, and just beautiful, they scream of that cute sarcasim that has made Anne Taintor such a hit. They are so much fun to us., I've been sending them to family and friends as my little way of keeping in touch and sharing a bit of humor. Do yourself a favor, order an extra set for yourself. I plan on tucking them into gifts with a note on the back. So glad I ordered them.

A funny collection of old advertising shots mixed with the author's hilarious comments. These will make you smile!
