John's Best to date.., January 2, 2005
This review is from: Another Destination (Audio CD)
I had to comment. I hit a link about "Kelly Keeling's bestest to best".... The idiot should have checked his stats first. The reviewer had this album switched with the follow-up "World's Away." This is, by far, John's best solo work. Kelly Keeling debuts with John on this effort, by singing on 4 tracks. John sings on the cover-songs, and there are a few beautiful instrumentals. Overall, fantastic.
After leaving Europe, John released "Total Control" singing most all vocals. Goran Edman sang on a few tracks, before taking the helm on Yngwie's "Eclipse" and "Fire and Ice" albums.
John then released "Face the Truth" with Glenn Hughes, and joined the Don Dokken band. Both were good efforts, also.
He returned to his solo career with "Final Destination" as Dokken reformed. Kelly Keeling stayed on for "World's Away", (to the idiot reviewer) with Kelly on all vocals. By the time "Face It Live" was released, Kelly was gone, replaced by Leif Sundin. Not as strong a vocalist, but decent.
John, again, took the vocals on "Slipped into Tomorrow." He then rejoined Dokken, only to leave for the reforming of UFO. He was passed over for the guitar spot, when Michael Schenker decided to return to the band. That is entirely UFO's loss.
I eagerly await the next outting by Norum. He remains one of my favorite soloists.
Rock on.
