Book Description

In Dumb Jock, Jeff and Brett fall in love, but their relationship is not without challenges. Brett’s a football star, and Jeff is the classic nerd. Their coming of age and coming out story is set in the 1980s, and they face many obstacles. Yet their love for each other is strong, and they finally get their happy ending.

Now, almost three decades later, their children are teenagers. Adam, their fifteen year old son, is the star pitcher of his high school baseball team. He has grown up with two dads, in a loving, non-judgmental environment. Yet Adam has challenges of his own. He’s failing two of his classes at school, and he’s been suspended for fighting. He resents being labeled and insists that just because he has two dads, it doesn’t mean that he is himself gay.

When he is forced to accept help from another student in his algebra class, Adam starts to have feelings that cause him to question his very identity. He’s got to decide whether to follow his heart or to maintain the image he’s worked so hard to portray. Will he have the courage to take a stand for what he knows is right, or will he end up being just another dumb jock?

5.0 out of 5 stars Tears of Joy!! January 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Wow!! I really love this story. First of all, I'm so happy to be reunited with Jeff and Brett. It was so heartwarming to get of glimpse of their mature, loving relationship, and to see their relationship with their children. So nice to see that Brett's parents came around!

But this story centers on their son, Adam. Adam is a teenager who loves both of his dads very much, but as any typical teenager, is somewhat embarrassed by the way his father acts. To make matters worse, he gets a lot of crap about it at school.

Adam's journey is one of self-discovery. He learns who he really is, he learns what it means to fall in love, and he learns just how much his family means to him.

This story feels very current. And I don't just mean the pop culture references. I like how the younger crowd was a bit more tolerant and open-minded. Not everyone, of course, and certainly not everywhere, but in general I'd agree that the younger generation really is much more tolerant than their predecessors.

I love the humor in this story. Adam and Trevor were so funny. They both had such great personality. I love them both! I also love the interaction between Adam and his two dads. This is a story that isn't often told. It's the first one I've read with two gay dads already established. It is such an interesting dynamic.

I absolutely love what the author has done with these characters and their journey!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Good Story January 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
16 chapters plus an epilogue and approx 3088 locations.

I read both of the Dumb Jock books now and I liked this one better. Perhaps because it's more current today, but also because there is a good balance of humor and drama. The interactions between Adam and Trevor are so funny at times, especially some of the things they say. With Another Dumb Jock we hear Adam's a.k.a "the jock's" POV whereas in Dumb Jock we heard Jeff "the nerd's" POV. It was fun to hear the other side of things so to speak. This book is a lot more tolerant and self-accepting than the previous one largely due to the changing times and more educated/informed generation of today's society.

Extra star for the Glee reference! Love Glee!

Definitely recommend! This one is the lightest of Erno's books that I've read including Dumb Jock, Trust Me, & The Puppy Love Trilogy. All are good, but Trust Me and Dumb Jock have scenes that you will for sure need tissues in hand for. Puppy Love is a more mature book and is a more graphic D/s series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A loving family, a beautiful romance February 3, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book follows book 1 "Dumb Jock" 20-something years after high school opposites Jeff and Brett became an item. They have 2 teenage kids and this book shows how their son Adam comes to terms with his identity.

Adam is a jock, star of the baseball team, gorgeous, popular blablabla.

But Adam has 2 problems. He hates how effeminate one of his parents is and tries as much as possible to emulate his more masculine dad. And he does not want to be gay like his parents.

Then Adam falls in love.

Follow Adam on his journey to self-discovery. He is a great character and he drives the book. The whole family (the two dads and the two siblings) is engaging.

Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A case where the sequel is better than the original April 19, 2012
By Tom W
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Almost thirty years ago now, Jeff and Brett fell in love. Jeff was a classic nerd, picked to tutor football star Brett. The course of their love wasn't easy, but they stuck it out and formed their own family. Now, their have kids of their own. Their son Adam is fifteen, and their daughter Lisa a couple of years older. They each donated sperm and it's pretty obvious to Adam, the baseball jock, that he's Brett's biological son.

And that's part of the problem. Adam's getting into fights at school and it revolves around his two dads. In Adam's mind, it wouldn't be so back if his Father, Jeff, were a little more like Brett and less...emotional. More manly. A guy. The other part? Some kids assume he's a dumb gay jock like his Dad.

Now he's fighting, failing two classes. It's not like he's a dumb kid. He's not. Just distracted. And behind in math. So when he's suspended for his latest fight, his Father arranges a math tutor for him.

But when he finds out his tutor will be nerdy Trevor, he just can't stand it. But it's that or not play baseball, so he takes it like the little man he is.

What he didn't expect was to like Trevor. Maybe like him too much. Just because the kids assume he's gay like his dad doesn't mean he is, Or isn't.

There are lots of lessons for this young man to learn. About life and love and family and fathers. Because, really, he isn't just another dumb jock.

I've been a fan or Jeff Erno's books for a while now, and this may be his best work yet. This is a heartfelt tale about what happens when the heart wants what it wants. Mr.

This story was very clichéd and emotionally manipulative, but I was crying almost from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the characters and the story.
