This story had potential, but it turned into a sappy, saccharine account of heartbreak turned happily ever after. The story focuses on happily married, Justine, and upwardly mobile, Brianna - two women whose lives are turned upside-down when life throws them both curve balls.

All appearances indicate that Andrew and Justine Crandall have the perfect life in Francis Ray's In Another Man's Bed. They are young, attractive and successful entrepreneurs. Justine's decision to surprise Andrew while away on a trip, proves to be most surprising for her. She enters her home to discover him in their marital bed with another woman. After confronting him, she flees from their home only to have him follow her at break-neck speed, which ends in a car crash. The crash leaves Andrew comatose and Justine in the position of `Standing by her Man,' though he has done her wrong.

For several months, Justine sits at Andrew's bedside faithfully. Her heart no longer belongs to her husband, but due to loyalty to Andrew and his mother Beverly, she feels it is the right thing to do. What she had not planned for was the reappearance of her childhood sweetheart, Dalton Ramsey. As her feelings grow for Dalton, she struggles with her feelings of loyalty to her comatose husband and his mother. There is also her underlying struggle to place herself first, to not always do what is expected, but to embrace love of self.

Ms. Ray has written a classic romance with all the elements of love, loss and hope. In Another Man's Bed is a well-paced, fluid story that will keep the reader interested from the beginning to the end. There are enough surprises to keep the story flowing and from turning into a standard romance novel. I recommend this book to romance lovers and to anyone interested in reading a well-told story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Obligation or Love Which One Would You Choose?, March 5, 2007
This review is from: In Another Man's Bed (Paperback)
Justine Crandall adores her husband, Andrew but both spend a lot of time promoting their perspective businesses. Justine told her husband to rest at the cabin but decides to surprise him. She makes the trip in record time, as she opened the bedroom door, she noticed her husband naked on the bed and the shadow of a woman entering the bathroom. Realizing his unfaithfulness, she said a few choice words and rushed to the car speeding away. Andrew quickly dressed and followed her. Minutes later he lost control of the car, severed and rolled down an embankment.

Justine saved Andrew's life but he would spend the next several months in a coma. Justine debated the suggestions from the doctor to unplug the life support against the pressure from Beverly (his mother) to spend every waking moment at the hospital. Justine's plight was further complicated when her high school sweetheart returns to town. Dalton is a best selling author that comes to sign at her bookstore. He makes it clear that he is willing to wait until she is ready but he desperately wants to shower her with love. Will she rekindle the flame with Dalton before saying a final farewell to Andrew?

Once again, Francis Ray has produced believable characters that have depth. IN ANOTHER MAN'S BED has a new twist on a romantic tale that you won't see coming. Treat yourself to a fast moving story involving lust, love, greed and forgiveness. Ray forced me to think about how far I would go for the sake of keeping a marriage together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done!, March 18, 2007
This review is from: In Another Man's Bed (Paperback)
Ms. Ray has done it again. She weaves a story that will hypnotize the reader and have you so involved with the characters that you feel like you can talk to them and they actually hear you. Take this journey with Justine as she goes to hell and back....and will consider going back to hell in order to do the right thing. But in walks a past love and things change. The answer becomes does she allow herself to be victimized by the vow she has taken...for better or worst...or does she realizes that she is entitled to real love. What's a person to do when it seems like almost everyone else wants you to do what is right for the person who has hurt you. Will Justine find herself and do what is best for her or will she turn her head and live a life that she so desparately want to run away from. well the answer lies between the front and back covers of this terrific and well written book. YOu won't be dissatisfied...I highly recommend this book....a page turner....

5.0 out of 5 stars ***What's A Woman To Do***, March 17, 2007
This review is from: In Another Man's Bed (Paperback)
I'm a little depressed because I read the book too damn fast!! Anyway, as always, I loved this book. My heart went out to Justine almost immediately, and I admired the phenomenal friendship between her and Brianna. Beverly and Helen have serious issues, Andrew and Jackson (president..get it?)..maybe they need to talk to someone. Brianna, you're fierce girl. Dalton and Patrick are exceptional men because one loved since high school and the other loves even though she's with child by another. The cameo appearances by the characters from Ms. Ray's other novel "Like The First Time", was a pleasant surprise. "Irresistible You" here I come!!

I absolutely loved reading "In Another Man's Bed". It's such a soothing and affectionate read. The interactions between her female and male characters are as sweet as candy.

The relationship between Brianna and Patrick was flirty and fun. Justine's and Dalton's relationship was attentive and gentle.

I hated that lying S.O.B., Andrew. The nerve of him cheating on Justine. His mother, Beverly was psycho. The "love" she felt for her son was unnatural.

Mrs. Ray has penned my last three reads and I haven't been disappointed. I look forward to reading "Irresistible You".

Francis Ray is indeed a treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 4.5) - Desire Vs Obligation, February 10, 2007

Justine Crandall loves her husband Andrew and feels as if they have the perfect marriage. When she tries to surprise him at their cabin in the Appalachian Mountains, she finds him in bed with another woman. Quickly realizing the situation in which she's placed herself, and what it means to her marriage, she leaves. Andrew speeds to catch up with her, unconcerned with the curves of the terrain and scattering of deer crossing signs. Justine has no problem navigating her vehicle through the torrent of tears, but Andrew isn't as fortunate when he veers off the cliff to avoid hitting a deer. Justine races down the incline and pulls him from the wreckage. Her quick actions save Andrew's life, but he barely survives the accident.

Months afterwards, Justine continues to stand by his hospital bed, though her heart says to leave and never look back. She finds herself playing the role of loving wife, as she doesn't want to endure the drama that will come about if she files for divorce and shares his infidelity with family and friends. His doctor is recommending removing Andrew from life support, since the machines are what is keeping him alive. Andrew's mother insists he is going to recover and has Justine on lock-down at the hospital, insisting she spend all her time there with Andrew. Justine is even more conflicted when an old boyfriend returns to town and her feelings for him resurface. She fights to remain neutral, but in the end, she must decide if she will honor what she feels or continue to do as others expect, be there for her husband.

Francis Ray has done a wonderful job with IN ANOTHER MAN'S BED. It is an enthralling novel which focuses on lost love and hope. The characters are crafted soundly, and while the reader will empathize with the characters, they will understand the dilemmas they're placed in. The writing is solid, the plot is a refreshing twist to the same thing read over and over in books dealing with infidelity, and the resolution is one which will leave fans of Ray eagerly awaiting her next literary offering. I really enjoyed IN ANOTHER MAN'S BED and would highly recommend it to others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Passionate and Touching!!!, February 7, 2007
This review is from: In Another Man's Bed (Paperback)
Justine Crandall thought that she had the perfect marriage until she walks in on her husband Andrew with another woman. Justine runs out of their cabin and vows a quick divorce but Andrew chases her down in his car trying to get his wife back. Things get complicated when Andrew's car goes over a cliff and leaves him in a coma. Now, Justine has the daunting task of deciding if she should pull the plug or not. Does she want to do this because her husband had an affair or is it because it's a humane thing to do? Justine's decision becomes even harder when her old flame Dalton rolls into town and stirs up some old feelings. Should Justine stay by her husband's side or follow her heart?

In Another Man's Bed is a seductive page-turner by Francis Ray. Ray eloquently pens a novel about hope and rediscovering a long-lost love. This author masterfully touched the very heart wrenching decision of whether to stand by a comatose loved one and hope that they eventually wake up or to just pull the plug. Readers will feel the emotional turmoil of Justine as she has to look deep inside of herself to make the right choice. This book would not be complete without the inclusion of some steamy romance that will surely delight this author's legion of romance and mainstream fans. In Another Man's Bed is full of passion and touching emotion. Francis Ray once again gives readers a novel that doesn't disappoint.

This story had potential, but it turned into a sappy, saccharine account of heartbreak turned happily ever after. The story focuses on happily married, Justine, and upwardly mobile, Brianna - two women whose lives are turned upside-down when life throws them both curve balls.

The story just kind of laid there for me. There was nothing to really sink my teeth into. I knew who the mysterious home-wrecker was and savvy readers will be able to quickly figure it out, too. Patrick and Dalton, as the long-suffering suitors of Brianna and Justine, were two of the most unbelievably patient men I think I've ever read about. This wasn't as dreamy and romantic as other Ray books that I have read. Oh, yeah, remember "Bliss" and the characters from "Like The First Time" - they're heeerrreee!

The author has SOME imagination. Get it from the library.

This review is from: In Another Man's Bed (Paperback)
I simply loved the Book. All the characters touched my heart. I admire Justine's strength in that she gained. I am most certain that I would not have been able to play the charade long. Now Briana is a person right after my own heart. She's got spunk and fire but is a loyal friend. The men in there lives are to be commended to. Dalton and Patrick the kind of men that dreams are made of. How many men do you know would stay with a a woman who was pregnant by another man. And Dalton being the highschool sweetheart was willing to fight through time and difficulties that he and Justine's faced.

The book was very entertaining and was an interesting read. The plot is somewhat predictable and unrealistic all at the same time. There were also some story lines that,"left you hanging". If you need an easy, fun to read book, and you're not looking for some intellectual experience, you will enjoy this book.
