4.0 out of 5 stars Good single for KT fans, but get her albums first, January 27, 2010

For KT Tunstall fans who already have all of her albums, this single might be a good addition to your collection. "Another Place To Fall" is a great song from her first album "Eye To The Telescope". The reason to get this single would be her cover of Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees". I'm a Radiohead fan too and while I still prefer their original version of the song, I've warmed up to KT's version after a few listens. It's very different from the original, featuring just a piano to accompany her beautiful voice with a drumbeat coming in - to dramatic effect - toward the end. I would still recommend getting each of her albums including "Acoustic Extravaganza" before this, especially since it's out of print and can be expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great song + great b-side = great single, August 18, 2007

Any fan of KT Tunstall knows that in addition to putting out great music, she puts out great singles as well. Whereas many singles by other artists contain pointless remixes that nobody cares about, one always knows that a KT Tunstall single will have at least one cool b-side to give fans their money's worth.

"Another Place To Fall" is no exception. A personal favorite of mine off Eye To The Telescope, this song is just cool, plain and simple. It starts off deceivingly slow, and then just when you think you have the song figured out, wham!...electric guitars wail down for the awesome chorus. It's unpredictability like this that makes me such a big fan of KT Tunstall. One thing to note about this version here is that it's a radio edit, which essentially means that it's a tad shorter than the album version. This doesn't make it better nor worse, just a little more concise.

And now to the great b-side, a cover of Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees." This is by far one of the best b-sides from KT. Not only is it interesting to hear a female's take on it, but it's also cool because KT makes it completely her own, stripping it down to an acoustic/piano version that works quite well. It almost has a jazzy quality to it. I can easily picture KT playing this song on a grand piano in a small New York City club at midnight, the air thick with smoke. You may get other mental images when hearing it. Either way, this is one great cover.

It's a shame that this excellent single is now out-of-print, as seems to be the fate of many of these import singles. But if you're even a casual fan of KT Tunstall I would urge you to track it down. And for that matter, anything else by KT. You just can't go wrong with her music.
