5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme reality check
Wow, This book Rocked ! ......If you think you know someone read the book then think again. From beginging to end it pulls you in and makes you question who you really know. The story had me from the start and it still does.I loved it. When I finnished it I kept turning the pages ...I didn't want it to end. Hoping for a sequel!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pass on this one, folks.
What a bore! There were so many typos in this book that I almost didn't finish it. What a bunch of sappy, self absorbed characters. You find yourself rooting for Joe Green. Let's get rid of all the saps! And the characters names...Silke Saybrooke for petes sake! Don't waste you time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, April 18, 2001
This review is from: Another Side Of Evil (Paperback)
It's been a long time since I've read a mixture of horror, suspense, mystery, and thriller, all in one book. Had me turning pages till the end. Then, all I wanted was more. Hope Laffer does more and often! I'd say Adults only, and a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tahoe, watch out!, March 23, 2000

This review is from: Another Side Of Evil (Paperback)
This is a creepy, scary story! All these people could be my best friends! Especially Joe Green. An insight into the world of suspense and horror, never before seen in this particular way. Laffer has a way with thoughts that seem to scream out on paper. Vivid, chilling, emotional yet best of all, understanding. It's a must read!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Shivery Book to Read, March 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Side Of Evil (Paperback)
This book kept me up all night...and the next morning, I was looking over my shoulders. Don't read this when you are alone in the house.

Subject matter is not for kids. The book really grabs the reader. I recommend it highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was wrong!, May 5, 2000
This review is from: Another Side Of Evil (Paperback)
I didn't think this was going to be my kind of book. Man, was I wrong. I couldn't put it down no matter how hard I tried. I really loved it. Don't think there's anything else quite like this one. Read it! You won't be sorry. Not for the squimish, or for kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope there's more., March 23, 2000

Totally unexpected ending, looking forward to more from this author. This story has to go on. Very real characters, and each one had different thoughts and emotional reactions to this crime. I can't wait until the next book from Jax Laffer. Plenty of twists and unexpected turns of events. Held my interest until a bang up ending!

4.0 out of 5 stars A roller coaster ride in character study, April 10, 2000
This review is from: Another Side Of Evil (Paperback)
Jax Laffer's Another Side of Evil keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from start to finish. This reader is intimately familiar with the setting of the story, which made for spine-tingling moments as the action takes place just blocks away from my home. I double-bolted the locks and only read this book during daylight hours. Joe Green, a man dealing with his inner deamons, finds the answer to his prayers, while destroying the lives of others. Joe is constantly struggling between the man he needs to be and the man he actually is. I loved him and loathed him in the same breath. The ending is so spellbinding that I can't wait for the sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Anxiously awaiting the Sequel!, May 7, 2000

This review is from: Another Side Of Evil (Paperback)
Jax Laffer's ANOTHER SIDE OF EVIL takes you on a gut-wrenching emotional rollercoaster. My sympathies kept shifting from the victim to the attacker. It was hard not to see that the evil Joe Green had a heart. The story must continue! It just has to!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not scary to me....but really good., April 12, 2011
This review is from: Another Side of Evil (Paperback)
I disagree with all the reviews about this book being scary. Yes, rape is a horrendous crime, but the writer does such an amazing job at humanizing the villain that I can't hate him. Actually, Joe Green turned me on. The second book is even better. Full of sexual angst and passion. Worth the read. Almost everyone in the book is described as astoundingly gorgeous though. A bit unrealistic but I guess I'd rather envision a good looking person than a slouch, so I can accept that.

The only thing that irritated me about both books is the amount of typos in the book. I can't believe that they didn't have someone read through the book and catch these. Stupid stuff like "new" instead of "knew" and really easily identifiable typos. Seems ridiculous to go to all the trouble of publishing a book and not even proofing it. I would say there are at least 20 typos in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the same old story...., June 26, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Another Side Of Evil (Paperback)
This certainly was not what I expected! It's not the same story you always here. This one has originality and depth. If you read this one you won't forget it. Makes you think and feel for all the characters and keep turning pages. Also gives you hope that people can start their lives over for the better, one way or another. It's that "other" that makes you want to keep reading! Adult reading--but only if you dare to be honest with yourself.
