5.0 out of 5 stars Just amazing
I'd been semi-familiar with I Mother Earth's music and then I heard that their lead singer Edwin had split from the band. I knew he had his own style but I never realized just how good his solo material was until I heard the song "Alive"...and then as I've been known to do, I bought the CD to see what else this guy had up his sleeve. Well, as it turns out...this guy has...

3.0 out of 5 stars What Else Could Be Expected?
Well, here it is. Edwin left I Mother Earth on the basis that they wanted to go different ways in te directions of their music, and in Another Spin Around The Sun he sounds like he wanted to go the route with the most pot on it. Most of the songs on this album can be found to be hinting to marijuana or blatently singing about it, leaving one to wonder just what it was...

5.0 out of 5 stars Just amazing, August 21, 2005
I'd been semi-familiar with I Mother Earth's music and then I heard that their lead singer Edwin had split from the band. I knew he had his own style but I never realized just how good his solo material was until I heard the song "Alive"...and then as I've been known to do, I bought the CD to see what else this guy had up his sleeve. Well, as it turns out...this guy has some sleeves. From the opening heartbeat in "Theories" to the slightly Lennonesque "And You" to everything else on the album, this is just some amazing stuff. Not a single track that sounds like any other track on the disc...totally diverse and yet totally cohesive. There were at least five singles to come from this disc in his native Canada, and I've turned a ton of folks on to this CD here in the States. It draws you in and keeps you there. Don't wait. Investigate this CD...then bombard Edwin's website with e-mail asking when his next CD is coming (his second CD with his new band, Edwin & the Pressure, is filled with more of his unique spin on the world...no pun intended).
This CD IS very much worth your time!

5.0 out of 5 stars finally, a rockin' solo MALE, September 4, 2000
By
I first bought this album after seeing Edwin live (and getting an autograph) at the Edgefest concert in Edmonton. He's a sweet, friendly guy -- and the music is awesome. He has an organic, heartfelt voice that rips at your gut and rockin' tunes that make you want to crank the volume in your car and sing along. A perfect remedy for Teen Pop oversaturation. All the songs are great, even the hidden track, "Another Drink". There are quite a few singles out in Canada (Trippin, Hang Ten, And You, Alive, and Rush), and Edwin has definitely proved that he has what it takes to make fabulous music, with or without a band; for those who don't know, he was the lead singer of I Mother Earth. A wonderful disc that has been a steady member of my 6-CD tray.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, February 5, 2005
This isn't as good as "Scenery and Fish" by I Mother Earth but it's still a decent solo album. Edwin's song "Alive" was a huge hit in Canada and it's easy to see why - it's a beautiful song with nice lyrics. Aside from Edwin's annoying voice, "Another Spin Around the Sun" is an awesome record.

This review is from: Another Spin Around the Sun (Audio CD)
It may be another Spin but it's the same old same old. Edwin, The former lead singer from "I Mother Earth" ventures out into a solo career with the first single "Tripin'" which is an alright song on an alright CD. I give this Cd 4 stars because it is indeed a solid CD and there is plenty to hear on it, there may not be a whole lot of depth to it. It is a pretty simple Disc but one definitly worth hearing a couple times but after that i don't know. THe highlight of this disc would be the fourth single "Alive" which is an awesome song. Which is the only reason i bought this CD. There isn't Much past "alive", a couple alright songs here and there but that's about it. Only buy this if you know what you are getting into.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional, worth the time to listen to, October 5, 2000
Edwin with his first solo release after he left I MOTHER EARTH Has created in my mind a terrfic cd. I have listend more to his solo effort than any of I MOTHER EARTH'S Material. My faverite songs are:"TRIPPING AROUND THE SUN" "AND YOU" "RUSH" I especally like that one. Edwin has talent and agression in his music and it's a perfect blend of both. I can hardly wait to see if his follow up cd can compare to this. After hearing this i'm happy to declare myself an EDWIN fan.

Most of the songs on this album can be found to be hinting to marijuana or blatently singing about it, leaving one to wonder just what it was Edwin really saw in his solo career. Anyone who listened to him on IME's productions 'Dig' and 'Scenery And Fish' can say that weed has always been around those guys, but this album shows the true affinity Edwin has for the sweetleaf. We can't blame him, but I think Snoop Dogg had that one wrapped up in the lyrical bag. Nice try, but I think we can expect more to come from the guy who was the frontrunner of Canada's best kept secret, right?

5.0 out of 5 stars Edwin - Another Spin Around the Sun, January 29, 2001
This CD is amazing. Edwin is truely an amazing artist and his talent should be brought into the US a little more. I have recommended this CD to all of my friends. Every song is great, unlike some other CDs with only one good song. In short, this is a must have CD.
