2.0 out of 5 stars Where are the really good songs??
I have personally counted every song used in Not Another Teen Movie in the credits, and there were 42 songs throughout the entire movie. Answer this for me: WHY ARE THERE ONLY TWELVE SONGS??????!!!!!!?!?!! About two of these songs are ALRIGHT, but it makes me mad that they didn't use some of the better songs, like the remix of " Don't You Forget About Me " and the song "...

4.0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack - Not Another Teen Movie Review, April 17, 2002

Is there one thing that makes this album rock? Yes, and it is called track number one. To hear Marilyn Manson's cover on "Tainted Love" is worth the price of this CD. Sure you could use Kazaa or some other P2P device to download the track, but while the Manson track is what you paid for, the rest of the CD comes along as a bonus, and a worthy one at that.

While most of the tracks have appeared else where, or have been around a while "The Metro" by System of a Down appeared on the Dracula 2000 Soundtrack, and Orgy's rendition of "Blue Monday" appeared on their excellent Candyass disc, this is the first time all of these tracks have been together, legally.

While the Smashing Pumpkin's cover of "Never Let Me Down Again" comes up strangely disappointing, the rest of the tracks on the disc stand out as well known 80s songs, covered and re-mastered by some of today's hottest names in rock.

The disc never really fails to disappoint, and the 4 out of 5 rating is only because a great many of these tracks have appeared elsewhere, are aren't dramatically new. It seems as though the producers of this album would have rather used old recordings from these bands, than have some new ones recorded. While Mest does make the cut on the CD, I would have liked to seen some more punk bands (since we know they do the best covers) of the likes of New Found Glory, Offspring, and maybe sprinkle in some Green Day for added flavor.

All in all, superior disc, and one of the best sound tracks in years.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent hybrid of great '80's songs with a modern edge!, December 8, 2001

Although I was a kid throughout the 80's, I have always found that period of music to be uniquely upbeat and fun. In recent years, however, my tastes have tilted heavily towards hard rock and metal, such as Static-X, Kittie, and Limp Bizkit. Regardless of your tastes, I would highly recommend this soundtrack, which is a compilation of some of the best 80's tunes redone by current metal and hard rock bands. I particularly like Marilyn Manson's remake of "Tainted Love", which is one of the heaviest of the songs, but Goldfinger's cover of "99 Red Balloons" and Good Charlotte's great riffs on "If You Leave" are very catchy, fun and lively! I bought this CD just yesterday and it has quickly become one of the favorites in my collection.. great for parties as well!

I love it when cool newer bands cover old 80s tunes, and this soundtrack has nothing but. The moment I heard Phantom Planet's cover of "Somebody's Baby" I was totally hooked. Good Charlotte's "If You Leave" and Goldfinger's "99 Red Balloons" are awesome. The whole CD rocks!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, January 30, 2002

I bought this CD because I recognized the tunes from when I was younger. I have not seen the movie, nor do I really have any intention to; however, I love this CD. If you enjoy groups like New Order, The Cure, Depeche Mode but desire something a little harder you will love this CD. I really like Stabbing Westwards remake of "Bizarre Love Triangle." The song I bought the CD for is Mansons cover of "Tainted Love," I love it! I'm glad somebody got the idea of doing harder remakes of some of the best 80's tunes. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to load the changer with this CD and my Ramones!:-)

2.0 out of 5 stars songs, June 24, 2003

The song where priscilla is walking in with her girlfriends is from Imperial Teen-Yoo Hoo, and I do agree, they should've put it in the soundtrack, but what can ya do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome., February 3, 2004

The album is an excellent compilation of some badass 80's covers. Good Charlotte's "If You Leave" is amazing, but the best track on the album goes to Goldfinger's cover of "99 Red Balloons." There's nothing quite like that song to get a person really, really excited and incite a well of energy that one wouldn't otherwise know existed.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great collection of the usual suspects, December 5, 2001

Any child of the eighties might have cringed when they heard Marilyn Manson was going to cover Tainted Love. However he manages to deliver a worthy rendition alongside Goldfinger's cover of 99 Red Balloons. Let's not forget the Pumpkins' Depeche mode cover. Plus if you haven't gotten a hold of Orgy's wicked take of Blue Monday yet (which planet are you from ??:), this offers a great opportunity. With great tracks from System of a Down and Scott Weiland alongside other tracks from good alternative/modern rock artistes, simply put this as a must have for your cd collection or a Xmas gift !

As somebody who grew up in the 80's the last thing I need is a soundtrack full of imitations of songs from that time that aren't done as well as the origional.
That is why I thoroughly enjoyed this CD! The songs are all recognizable, but have been hardened a bit. Again, Nena did a great job on 99 luftballons, I don't need another group just trying to re-do that version. But here it was turned into a heavier beat laden song that blended really well with the rest of CD. Maralyn Mansons Tainted Love, Orgy's Blue monday. Versions of Somebody's Babe origionally by Jackson Brown and even new versions of Please Please Please let me get what I want origionally by Morrisey and and New Orders Bizzar Love Triangle all combine to make this an outstanding CD that not only makes you nostalgic but reintroduces you to older songs and allows you enjoy them again in fresh but still recognizable versions. Been on continual high rotation in my car since I got it over a year ago. I absolutly recomend this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars more songs not included on the soundtrack, December 11, 2003
This review is from: Not Another Teen Movie (Audio CD)
good soundtreack but there were a couple more songs in the movie that were not included on the cd that I was wondering about.

The first song I'm wondering about might have just been something made for the movie but it sounded like the beginning of a song I've heard but can't recall. It's the song played while Catherine is "making over" Janey when Jake brings Catherine over to Janey's house.

The second song, I know I've heard before, is played for a couple of seconds in the background at the party right before the old lady tells Catherine she's never been kissed.

If anyone could help me find the titles of these songs that'd be great.
