I really tried to like this book but just couldn't get enough interest in the main character and her antics to really enjoy the book. I like the premise but it just didn't hold my interest.

I didn't care for the main character much at all. I didn't care for her friends and I thought the book just didn't have enough oomph to keep me interested. The fact that she even let the bad person across her threshold was beyond me. His description was enough for anyone with good common sense to slam the door or show him the door immediately. I read books because I like the characters in them and this one not to my liking. The mystery was really not engaging and I finally pulled the bookmark and called it a day.

If you are looking for a clean, cozy mystery, with interesting characters, and an inspiring message, then this is the book for you. ANOTHER HOUR TO KILL is the second title in the Volstead Manor Mystery series and it is entertaining from the very first page. Bailey's wonderful sense of humor makes her the perfect heroine and I had a good time searching for the lost treasure with her. I can't wait for the last one in the series. GREAT BOOK!

MS Higman has brought the second in the series A VOLSTEAD MANOR MYSTERY to those of us who really liked the first in the series, Another Stab at Life. This second book has the same cast of characters with additional secondaries to make the plot more interesting. I was only a bit dismayed by the fact I figured out the antagonist too soon - my ONLY complaint. ;D
Another Hour to Kill is more action-oriented and the mystery is still mystery. The hero is one patient and loving guy!

Anita has weaved a classic cozy. Baily has been left scary, run down, three story house in Huston, Texas named Volstead Manor. This house holds more than one secret and Baily is determined to find out what they are. She has to make the decision to stay and fix-up the house or sell it. When she meets her next door neighbor, Max and a spark flies between them, she decides to stay. In this book, the second in the series, she is planning her wedding to Max and in the meantime must find a murderer before he finds her. Another Hour to Kill follows our heroine, Bailey, as she prepares to marry her quirky hero, Max. He is so cute!!!! Bailey has tried not to get involved in people's lives, but now not only has she fallen in love, solved a mystery, but she has another mystery to solve and gets involved with a neighbor girl who brings lots of relationship qualms into her life. Ms Higman brings in romance, but it isn't sappy which I love about her writing. Another Hour or two or three spent reading a great story! The humor always comes at just the right times and many times in a most surprising way.

I was rewarded to find out from Mrs. Higman that there will be a third Volstead Manor Mystery.

This is a great series containing everything mystery readers love: An old, mysterious house; great characters; and hidden treasure!

I love the clean romance between Max and Bailey and the meaningful Scripture verses and how they add merit to the story line.

Am looking forward to the next book in this delightful series!

I dont usually read this type of mystery book; but it came hIGhly reccomended so I gave it a try- FABULOUS! I even found another for a gift- if you can find this gem- grab it! Edge of your seat suspense.
