Book Description

An Another Way... Story

On the surface, Jesse Ross is an average guy in an average relationship with his college sweetheart, Adele. But what his girlfriend doesn’t know is that he’s having an affair—with a man—and exploring his sexuality in ways she never could imagine. His compartmentalized life suits Jesse just fine, and he has no intention of coming out of the closet either as a bisexual or as a submissive.

However, Jesse takes a tumble when his Master, Will, admits to wanting more, wanting Jesse as his partner, not just his submissive. Suddenly Jesse's conveniently pieced-together life isn’t quite so comfortable. In the end, Jesse has to lay it all on the line—for his girlfriend, for his lover, and for himself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not much of a story. July 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I read BDSM I want the guys to be 100% Dom and sub which is not the case here. And I do not like it when the Dom "bottom" for the sub. It just makes their bond odd, not that it is not confusing here. Sure they do the BDSM scenes but there is no Dom/sub dynamics. They are more like a romantic couple, especially after 50% into the story. The plot started off interesting enough but just taper off mid way. Also just too much sex. At the end just another forgettable mm romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, hot and sweet December 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was not only informative re the life of a sub, but I liked the characters and I believed their relationship. Actually, maybe that was the oddest thing about it. I'm convinced that somewhere in Washington this couple is living together and happy in their relationship. It was a genuine romance with just enough kink to make it really good. In fact, I wouldn't mind rereading it at some point in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Story! May 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Although he's in a relationship with a steady girlfriend, Jesse Ross goes to another in order to have his most secret needs met. Jesse is a submissive and has been seeing his male Dominant for close to two years unbeknownst to anyone in his life. He harbors guilt, knowing he's doing this behind his girlfriend back, but he could never ask her to perform the kind of acts he receives from his Dom, Will Anderson. Things change when both men develop feelings for one another. Jesse must come to grips with the realization that he wants he wants to be with a man and figure out how to tell his girlfriend. Will must take a step back and be patient while hoping the man he cares for so deeply will choose him.

I LOVED this book! BDSM isn't typically my cup of tea, but in this story I really enjoyed it. The focus on the relationship between Will and Jesse and the intense emotions they shared is what really caught my attention from the start and made me fall in love with this book. Jesse is confused and scared, but Will's patience, love and compassion allows Jesse to make the right decisions for himself, Will and their evolving relationship. Jesse and Will's "sessions" made my heart race and their more tender, emotional moments with one another warmed my heart. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and know others who enjoy m/m romance will as well

3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay... July 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I really liked the conflict at first. I was decent. I liked all the characters, but half way through the book I felt like the book should have ended. If you want just a pure romance book with little plot after the first half you'll definitely enjoy it, but if you want tons of plot til the very end I'd stop reading half way through.

4.0 out of 5 stars An amazing story of love and acceptance. November 4, 2011
By ToniWI
Another Way is a M/M Erotic romance with a strong focus on BDSM. Though this genre of books is not my norm, I have read books with this subject. I learned pretty quick that what I have been reading was light weight. I was definitely outside of my comfort zone.

Being objective as possible, I will say that Another Way was at it's heart a romance. Jesse is torn between his girlfriend of 5 years and his Master. Jesse must come to terms with who he is and learn to accept his feelings.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good sex scenes but not much of a plot May 19, 2014

The blurb for this book had me pretty excited. I like my characters a little immoral and unlike many readers, I don't mind cheating protagonists. Obviously, I don't condone cheating but I don't mind reading about it. So a book about a guy who is in a live-in vanilla relationship with a woman but secretely subs for another guy sounded like just my cup of tea. I was expecting drama, soul-searching, a woman scorned, a jealous Top, etc., etc.

Unfortunately this book completely failed to deliver. For all Jesse's problems, there is hardly any conflict. He moves pretty seemlessly from Adele's arms to Will's and once Jesse and Adele break up, she doesn't return to the story. There is some talking between Jesse and Will about how to progress from a relationship where Jesse has subbed for Will on a twice-per-week basis to a relationship where they are live-in boyfriends and have to navigate the non-scene side of their relationship, but no conflicts ever really materialise. Neither of them are out, but not even this factor injects any much-needed drama into this story.

Another major problem for me is the way this story plays out almost entirely in Will's house. The scenes outside of the house are few and far too short. There is a brief altercation between Jesse and some homophobic punks when Jesse and Will are waiting in line for Jesse's first visit to a gay club, but both argument and visit are over in a couple of pages.

I do find the D/s sex scenes well written. Books flirting with BDSM themes are ten a penny these days and I've read plenty of titles where it's abundantly clear that the author doesn't know the first thing about it and doesn't understand the psychology of such a relationship.
