4.0 out of 5 stars So very different-quite compelling, June 7, 1999
By A Customer
Penny Vincenzi has written a very entertaining different story. The characters are dimensional, with very real touching story lines. The story itself it quite fascinating---I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the ending--the reader has to use their own creativity a bit which is wonderful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as her other books, February 22, 2006
By
I think Penny Vincenzi is a wonderful writer, who develops rich characters and unexpected, exciting plots. This book was good but not as great as Penny's other books. I would have liked a "closure" of some sort. Although of course I can use my imagination and come up with my own ending - I would have prefered for the author to write one.

This is the fifth book by Penny Vincenzi I have read-- The Spoils of Time Trilogy, and Sheer Abandon, and now, Another Woman. Her stories are all very involved with loads of characters, and make good reading. However, when I came to the last page of Another Woman, I thought maybe some pages were missing-- the pages that would have wrapped up the story, solved the mystery, and made sense of my spending many hours reading this 551 page book. All that reading, and nothing solved, nothing revealed, we don't find out what happened to the missing sister, no ending. It just stops. I feel very cheated-- I had been reading expectantly, anxious to find how it all turns out, and --- it doen't turn out at all. This book has NO ENDING. It just stops, leaving everything up in the air. I am giving it four stars because for 550 pages I enjoyed it- waiting for the exciting climax, the promise that never came. What a disappointment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just fun to read, May 25, 2005
Certainly not great literature, but a meaty, juicy saga of a family full of secrets. The book won't stay with you for days. It won't tug at your heart. It will however provide a few hours of light entertainment. If you just need a book that won't put you through an emotional roller coaster, this is a good choice. An easy read.

A must read for any Penny Vincenzi fan. I am aware this book was published in the mid 90s. However the plot is timeless. One must really pay attention to all the given clues. A wonderful story with so many twists and turns. Hard to believe so much can happen in a 48 hour period. She has done it again, never ceases to entertain me.

This review is from: Another Woman (Paperback)
Like all of Penny Vencenzi's books there is love, hate, mystery and suspence. What else could you ask for except MORE!!! You cannot put her books down, they are page turners, heart pounding, romantic supence. Just when you think nothing else can happen IT DOES!
