5.0 out of 5 stars The best trance album of all time
Having reviewed this album already, I have to review it again: This is the most played trance album I own, and no other trance album I have heard has stood up to it. Trance usually gets old after you hear it a few times... not this album! I once said that Autechre was better than Astral Projection; but time has proven me wrong. I never listen to Autechre anymore.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missing Track
Amazon's MP3 versoion of this album is missing the track called Visions of Nasca, which can be found on itunes.

Bad amazon....

I shop amazon because they are cheaper than itunes. Hopefully this isn't a regular thing.

Having reviewed this album already, I have to review it again: This is the most played trance album I own, and no other trance album I have heard has stood up to it. Trance usually gets old after you hear it a few times... not this album! I once said that Autechre was better than Astral Projection; but time has proven me wrong. The beats in this music are repetitive, by the very nature of trance music. You can only knock Astral Projection for repetition if you do not like trance music in the first place. But this album is NOT repetitive... it is melodic. Each song doesn't simply repeat the melody over and over. Some have two, three, or more, and each melody varies as the song progresses. Layers upon layers build to give you that "feeling", the feeling you are supposed to get from trance... Another World is the reason trance exists! :) Even friends of mine who hate everything "techno" have admitted that these songs are good.

A top 10 album of our time! A must for all modern music collections.

5.0 out of 5 stars harder, darker, and far more complex than Dancing Galaxy, March 24, 2000

this album makes Dancing Galaxy seem "cute." The number of tracks this guy must be using is off-the-charts - incredibly complex and ENTRACING - the music he weaves together rushes over you like psychadelic stormclouds - that is the best way I can describe it - it actually takes you somewhere. There is no better psy trance than astral projection and this album is technically miles above Dancing Galaxy - anyone who says the songs are repetetive is not listening - there is definately a common theme and style but there is great versitility in sounds and melodies - there are some darkly beautiful songs - all very sweeping and confident - fast and utterly moving

5.0 out of 5 stars Astral Projection at their finest, September 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Another World (Audio CD)
Astral Projection has been making the greatest trance for years and years. And its great to see that after more than 5 years, they are as good as ever! Although I dont think any track on Another World matched the power of their early classic "Powergen", every single song off this album is amazing. Astral Projection have changed their sound a little bit from their prior "Dancing Galaxy" album, adding some new progressive-sounding synths to their arsenal. Still they keep their own original flavor. This is my favorite album of 99 so far and if you knew anything about true trance music, you would agree!

5.0 out of 5 stars Repetitive Mediocre Stuff?, February 19, 2001
By
This review is from: Another World (Audio CD)
Music is a matter of taste. But it still shouldn't stop me from discussing the previous Israeli listener's points. IMHO, it's actually a contradiction in terms calling trance 'repetitive' as this IS the very aspect of this music that makes it 'trance music'. Astral Projection are one of the masters of psy/goa genre and anything they make is very listenable. I have yet to come across any piece they made that is not a pleasure to listen to.

This particular album opens up with one of the best tracks in the album and sets the pace for the rest of it, which slows down only with the last track, more ambientish. They are so damn good at creating magical, engaging melodies that makes the music recognisable, interwoven with counter melodies with very clever modulations. The painstaking creation and production process is so evident in their work that you know they're not lying when they say they work more than 6 months on an album. As opposed to some one night wonder albums mass produced out there.

To get to the point; if you are a fan of electronic music but not quite familiar with trance get this, because you'll keep it in your player for a long time. If you're a trance fan you surely have this album anyway and are not reading this.

Administer in moderation, addictive stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Goa Trance or Psy for that matter, May 21, 2004

If you are into trance or electronic music Astral Projection is a must have. I am biased because they are my favorite electronic band. However, as biased as I may sound, I have to give a realistic opinion. If you are into mainstream stuff and want to check out something different, but don't know where to start, this is definately what you need to listen to. If you are into psy or goa and still haven't listened to Astral Projection, then you should be ashamed of yourself;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a great choice., April 17, 2001

I've listened to trance, psy trance and goa trance for many years now. I started off with Astral Projection's Trust In Trance which I still listen to a lot (Check out People Can Fly - a true experience!). Anyway.. since then Astral Projection has lost half of it's crew, but definitely evolved to a more melodic music. I think this is goa trance at it's best. If you like the music style even a bit, you can't make a wrong choise if you buy this album! There isn't just a good song in the album, all tracks are beyond good.

I'll tell you my personal favourites: tracks 1, 2, 4 and 5. These tracks definitely bring images into your head..

Great melodies, beats, complexity and emotion. Everything that makes great trance. They possess a unique style yet it's instantly addicting. I've introduced this to a couple of other friends and they bought the CD immediately, then bought the other AP releases. My favorite track: Nilaya.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bom Bom Bom, March 28, 2000

Greetings from Canada fellow Goa ravers...this new chapter from Astral Projection is simply incredible. A more than worthy follow up to DG and the Astral Flies. Personally I like AP better than Infected Mushroom, and thats saying alot. Every track here is a killer.

I have to say, I am not a fan of dance music or the artsy farsty techno music out there, but when I heard this CD it blew me off my feet. Despite having the exact same repetitious beat and hi-hat line in every song (just think of ANY dance song and you've got it), this album is incredible. I never thought I would say it, but it is true. I hate repetition in music (i.e., I'm a big Download fan) but the trancy synth lines are so good that they more than make up for the annoying beats. No joke! Only people who hate music created with computers will not enjoy this CD. I recommend it 100%. Now, all I want to know is when Download and Astral Projection will get together to make a CD.... wishful thinking... but you never know! :)

After hearing a couple of Singles from this album I dived at the opportunity to buy the full thing in the sure knowledge that I'd not be disappointed, and I wasn't. Another World represents the next stage in Astral Projection's devlopment as one of the best (if not the best?) transient bands today. Best track on the CD? It's a toss up between the adrenaline filled Searching for UFO's or the pounding beat of Still on Mars. Brilliant.
