4.0 out of 5 stars A giant leap towards a comeback!
Joe Diffie's not what you would call a country superstar, he never has been. Though Diffie has managed countless number one singles and albums in his 12 years, he's never been able to wrangle the status of say Tim McGraw or Garth Brooks. Still, through it all, Diffie has managed to make some memorable country music.

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT NOT GREAT
It's true. I agree with Aaron for the most part. "My Give A Damn's Busted" and "Stoned On Her Love" are complete crap. By the sound of Aaron's review, it seems that he likes Joe Diffie. He is only saying that this album falls short of what we would come to expect from Joe Diffie. I know for myself that I am not taking myself to serious!!

These two songs are horrible; and it's an embarrassment to Joe Diffie that they were recorded.

"A Night To Remember", "16 Biggest Hits, and "Tougher Than Nails" are Joe Diffie's finest works. I will hold on to this album in question; but certainly will not come back to it often.

I will add that "This Pretender" is a good song. Maybe for this one and "In A Different World" I will hold on to the album. I purchased this album for just under $5.00 brand new. I'm glad that I didn't spend full price.

Though Diffie has managed countless number one singles and albums in his 12 years, he's never been able to wrangle the status of say Tim McGraw or Garth Brooks. Still, through it all, Diffie has managed to make some memorable country music.

"In Another World", Diffie's 10th career release, is a great album with some outstanding songs. The album kick starts with the power ballad and title cut "In Another World". This is the sound that Diffie seems to be most successful at: strong love songs. It's one of those singing-with-the-windows-rolled-down songs. It's such a great reminising song.

The cuts on the album I could've done without are: "My Give A Damn's Busted" and "Stoned On Her Love". They're too flashy and do not give Diffie's voice justice. I found myself annoyed at these two cuts and had a hard time listening to them all the way through. They're a little more contemporary than what we're used to hearing Diffie sing, and they don't seem to suit him.

Aside from the title cut, the best songs on the album are: "If I Lost Her", "Like A River Dreams of Rain", "What A Way To Go", and the downright sweet and traditional sounding "The Grandpa That I Know". Anyone familiar with Joe Diffie's previous recordings will appreciate these cuts because they don't stray far from the successful formula that's made Diffie a hit.

Fans of Joe Diffie can only sit back and hope that "In Another World" will garner some radio hits and bring Diffie back into the spotlight where he rightfully deserves to be. He's been on the country backburner for way too long.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as the boy Aaron would suggest, July 12, 2004

True, this isn't Diffie's best work to date, but taken as a stand alone piece, it is an entertaining and listenable album.
"In another World" has already become a classic, so no need to comment on this track.
"Busted" is hugely memorable and amusing. I read the review from Aaron and laughed when he slated it. Get a life and stop taking yourself so seriously!
"If I lost her" Beautiful, well produced and brings a lump to the throat.
"Stoned on her Love" is well produced, but it falls short on amusement value and Joe over-extends his voice at times. By the end of the song I was hoping that it would end soon.
"Hollow Deep as Mine" Next track please!
"This Pretender" If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was listening to a Don Cox track, but vocally, Joe doesn't pull it off. Sounds like an English sixties pop song that has had some fiddle and slide slapped on it.
"Like a River" I was hoping for an uptempo song at this point but got anothe Ballad. However, it's not a bad wee tune. The production is a bit overdone, in places, but if Garth had done this, it would have been a big hit. Nice one.
"Live to love another day" Nice gutsy guitar in places, Joe does the song proud and if he took the fiddle out, he would have a marketable rock product here.
"What a way to Go" Joe, why? This is simply substandard.
"The Granpa that I know" Great fiddle start, George Straitish song and Joe carries it off really well. If you can wipe the silly grin off your face and take the song seriously, it could just about bring tears to your eye.
So there you have it - a classic, a would-be classic, a smiler, two stinkers and the rest good background music. The first three tracks bring this up to a 3 star album and are worth the money on their own - with the rest of the album a bonus.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Joe Diffie Album Yet, December 13, 2001

This album is by far the best stuff that Joe Diffie has ever done, even if you aren't a fan of his music you have to get this album just for two songs. "In another world" and "My give a dam's busted" very good quality stuff but look for a few more tracks on this album to be released on radio in the near future for your listening enjoyment. I bought this album when it first came out and I don't regret doing that, so go get it.

2.0 out of 5 stars A serious disappointment, December 27, 2001

After putting out a really fantastic piece of work like 1999's A NIGHT TO REMEMBER, Joe Diffie bombed out on this album, IN ANOTHER WORLD. The title track is one of the best songs to hit radio this year, so I was anticipating this album, and I must say I was let down. I almost had to laugh at "My Give A Damn's Busted". How could somebody record something so horrible and actually put it on an album after putting out such fine material in the past. It is most likely the dumbest song I have ever heard. By the way, the second dumbest is "Stoned On Her Love" which also appears on this album. The best way to describe these two songs is pure, unadulterated cacophony. It was as though the studio musicians were playing out of tune and Joe was singing off-key.
If you listen to "A Night To Remember", "If I Lost Her" and "Hollow Deep As Mine", you'll wonder why on Earth anyone would record such nonsense as the other seven songs. Those three tunes are all fantastic, but the rest leaves more to be expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, March 1, 2002

Joe Diffie has one of the best voices in the world and this CD lets us hear it. He has a lot of fun with "My Give a Damn's Busted". The third cut, "If I Lost Her", is performed so flawlessly it literally takes my breath away each time I hear it.

This CD is great!
