This comp was (inexpensive) and it had some bands I'd heard of when I bought it. Then I listened to it. The Alkaline Trio songs are catchy and a bit dark, but still poppy. The Get Up Kids had a re-hash of I'm a Loner... which is alright and a weird brand new song, which I don't like. Saves the Day have two darn good songs, one of which is new. The Anniversary, being the best band ever, had the best two songs on the comp, including the epic 8.5 minute closer I Believe that the End of the Reign of Terror is Soon Near. I don't care for the Gotohells or Rocket From the Crypt, two bands that don't fell like they belong because of their more punk rock style. A great buy for any punk/emo fan. rock on.

As if Vagrant records didn't rock already from their first cd from the streets, they outdid themselves with this amazing comp. With Alkaline Trio, Saves the Day, face to face, and Get Up Kids in addition to other rockin bands, this is a wonderful mix of soulful punk with catchy melodies and rhythms. Vagrants roster gets better and better, and this CD is proof positive that they know what they are doing. Everyone should buy it, and for 5 bucks, you simply cant do any better. This is an AWESOME cd!!

This CD is pretty dern good. It's a great mixture of bands, and really covers a lot of different styles. It's more varied and has a wider selection (I think) than the Vol. 2 comp by the same name. There seems to be more punk, or more hard-edged stuff, whatever you wanna say. It's faster and heavier than the second one. I like this one just a little less than the second one, but it's still a great spectacle of bands, and really showcases some great talent. It has two Saves the Day B-sides (sweet!!!), and they both rock, especially "Sell My Old Clothes, I'm Off to Heaven." The Reggie and the Full Effect song is pretty cool too. All together, this is a good comp. *Also, some of the songs that are "unreleased" on this disc can be found on newer CDs. Not all of them can be, but a few can. Just thought I'd warn you. Buy this CD, it's cheap and good.

Dude! 20 songs ...! Pretty good deal. Actually, this CD introduced me to the Alkaline Trio, Reggie and the Full Effect, Saves the Day and The Anniversary (okay, their second song on the disc, the closer isn't all that hot, but D In Detroit is pretty dang good). No Motiv rocks out, Face To Face isn't bad, and the Automatic 7 is good too. Rocket From The Crypt have always been pretty hit or miss, and this time is no different, and as far as the Get Up Kids go - this is not their best stuff. Still, it's a pretty good mix for dirt cheap and it's a good way to show off to your friends all the cool obscure music you like...

I heard this collection at Hot Topic one day and picked it up ecase it was five dollars. I ten went out hte next day and purchased albums by the Alkaline Trio and The Get Up Kids...soon after came the New Ampsterdams, Reggie + the Full Effect ( I did not know they were Kids' side projects at the time) and the rest of the libraries of Alk3 and the Kids. This album changed my musical tastes...or maybe just fulfilled them. Best purchase I have EVER made, and I mean that sincerely.

Wow. Does this cd rock. It took some time to track down a copy, but when I did a few weeks ago, I was blown away. Not only are all of the songs brand new or unreleased and incredible, but there r two new songs from the greatest band ever: Alkaline Trio! Ahem. Anyways, if you enjoy punk/rock go get this cd, and you'll be sure to have found plenty new bands to cherish from good ol' Vagrant Records.

Man this actually has some good songs on it, like Saves the Day before they got really really bad, good Alkaline Trio, the last song by the Anniversary and that RFTC song are pleasant to the soul. Yeah this is Vagrant records at thier best, before they went around stealing every hot "emo" band in the world. I do like that last Anni. song though!

Well, apparently the entire Vagrant roster has gone all out emo. Even the punky, raw "Face to Face" that we knew from "Five Years On The Street" has gone emo! I have to admit that most of the bands are doing a better job as emo bands than punk bands. Which is one of the reasons that this is better than "Five Years on The Street". However, this statement DOESN'T apply to "No Motiv" cause I liked them them A LOT as a punk band. It's also better because of all the TIGHT bands that have been added to the Vagrant roster. Such as Alkaline Trio and Saves The Day.
The highlight of this CD would have to be: Alkaline Trio, No Motiv, Saves the Day, and Automatic 7. Yes Automatic 7!! They have done some drastic improving since "Five Years On the Street". Get Up Kids would be included but the specific songs selected by them weren't all that good. Which I found disappointing cause they were my first "Get Up Kids" recordings. Despite these good bands there are a couple bad. "The Anniversary", "Reggie and The Full Effect", and "Koufax" really $u(k. Which is pretty disappointing cause them and "New Amsterdams" were the only bands I hadn't heard before buying this comp.
Now, moving on to additional song reviews. The Gotohells song was really just a 70s rock and roll style song with a hard edge added to it. It doesn't even resemble their old sound. It's too bad that I already had a recording of the first Saves The Day song on the Vagrant 2001 summer sampler. The other one was great as well. It's too bad that the ALkaline Trio songs were just a slightly different version of songs on "From Here To Infirmary" which I already own (don't ask). However, I like these versions slightly better.
