Another question about a possible loose end involving Quatux (spoiler)

Any idea what happened with the Raiel named Quatux?

At the end of Chapter 13, Tarlo suggests that the StarFlyer wanted Quatux and the Guardians to get through the Gateway. Later, near the end of the chase scene on Far Away, the Barsoomians show up to protect Quatux.

But none of this is followed up on or resolved, that I could detect. Are we suposed to suspect that the StarFlyer might actually have gotten away by transferring his consciousness to Quatux? Or is there another resolution suggested in the text? Or is it simply an unaccounted for loose end?

Quatux comes back in the Void series. He seems to have completed a 12 step program.

Aaron Newsom says:
I thought that this was a loose end as well. Tarlo (A Starflyer agent) destroys the shield generator protecting the Halfway wormhole so the guardians can get through. Not something the Starflyer would want, so it seemed to say that there was another actor, or a ploy by the Starflyer. On top of that, why didn't the Starflyer destroy the other planes once it got through to halfway, either of these easy actions (not shooting the shield generator, destroying the other planes) would have made the guardians unable to pursue. Didn't make sense.
