5.0 out of 5 stars The end is near......, April 13, 2001
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
The battle for Earth is now open war. The Yeerks are blowing up everything in site. The public knows the truth of the horrific alien invasion - but it may be too late from anyone to stop it. A new Yeerk pool is being built in the ruins of the devastated city. Jake comes up with a plan to capture the Yeerk pool ship, but it's a dangerous plan - one that will almost surely have a high cost in lives. What the Animorphs don't expect is an offer to form an alliance - an offer that comes from the Taxxons. The Taxxons are desperate to escape their never-ending hunger. They will help the Animorphs, in exchange for the morphing power. Meanwhile, the Yeerk whose host is Jake's brother Tom is planning to betray Visser One - and offers the Animorphs a deal of his own. But can the cannibalistic Taxxons and a Yeerk be trusted? Only one book remains in the Animorphs series, and this was one of the best yet. Written by K. A. Applegate herself, instead of a ghost writer, the story moves at a fast pace. The cliffhanger ending will leave you eager to read the final book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS should have been the last book!, June 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
If only K.A. added one more chapter to this book and spared us from #54! Nonstop action from beginning to end and some very piognant views on how war can affect someone make this book a gem. I am convinced that the cliffhanger ending could have been patched up by just one more chapter. Why, K.A?

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books in the series, June 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
"The Answer" really delves into Jake's personality, as he is now a darker and more angry character. In this book, K.A. messed up a few things that made #54 a complete car wreck. #1-if Jake's a good planner, he should have sent someone else with Rachel, such as Tobias. #2-add a few chapters at the end, plus a few chapters of epilogue, as well as a HAPPY ending, this would be the ultimate book. By only sending Rachel by herself, it's obvious she will die; 1 vs. 5 in morph is impossible. With Tobias in Andalite morph, it would be a wipeout for them. #54 is a waste of time; adding like 5 chapters at the end, with everyone living happily would have sufficed. Instead K.A. had to go and ruin the Animorph's lives. I think as the last books were written, she clearly was in a rush to get this out of the way. If only #53 could be re-written and #54 trashed, it'd be nice. Overall, this book is pretty good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotions tumble as the end creeps nearer and nearer, May 19, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
I got this book and at first wanted to wait for #54 too before I read it, since I'd been warned about the cliffhanger ending. Five hours later I had given up waiting and was finished with the whole book. And I LOVE THE BOOK! Jake's character is drawn out to the corners in detail, and anyone who's followed the series from earlier can see how he's changed. Some of the things he did, things he ordered done, made me very angry. (I threw the book against the wall a few times.) But that doesn't mean it's a bad book! It's one of the best in the series. And the series is good as well. This is a must-read book for any Animorph-fan. And a few non-fans too, I'd say. It will make you angry at some points, frustrated, but you'll love every word.

5.0 out of 5 stars The End is NEAR..., April 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
One of K.A.'s latest in her sci-fi series the Animorphs, is the answer to giving fans what they have cried for. The LAST great Jake narrated book ever with full K.A. genius. This book had the greatness of long ago written number 26, "The Attack." Which I would reccommend readers to also read. Many things are revealed in this book. Questions fans have asked and more... If you are an Animorph fan buy this!! If you're not, I'd recommed you start out with #49 and work ya way down to get the best out of this well written book!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Unthinkable Alliance, June 21, 2001
By
Clarissa (Harvey, LA Harvey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
The battle for Earth is now out in the open, the Yeerks have had enough. The Yeerks have planned to make a new pool, bigger than anything they've ever had before. The only way the Animorphs are going to win this war is to ally themselves with Taxxons. Taxxons who became voluntary hosts in order for their race to survive. The Taxxons are sick of the hunger they have to live with and with the help of the Andalite's morphing power they see a way to escape that hunger. The Yeerk in Jake's brother Tom's body wants Visser One dead and has a plan that may end the war in the Animorphs favor, if he can be trusted. This book is all K. A. Applegate and it shows. This is one of the best of the series, and is full of action. This is one book you won't be able to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Mistake Away From Extinction, January 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
Animorphs #53: The Answer -- is the second to last book in the series. That's right -- the funny scenes, the emotions, the fear, the gripping battles -- it's all drawing to a close. At #54, everything will end. #54, The Beginning, will be narrated by Rachel and will be partially be narrated by the other Animorphs so that your favorite character's last scoop isn't missed. As you've noticed in Books 50 and 51 , Jake has been darker and more depressed then ever before, and in Book 53 we will get to go behind the depth of why he is so -- it will no doubt be a powerful book. I can't wait to read Animorphs #53 and #54.

4.0 out of 5 stars A rollercoaster ride, May 6, 2001
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
I wouldn't call 'The Answer' one of the very best books in the Animorphs series, as it is only at its best the first time you read it. After that, some of the suspense is lowered. But it really blows you away. This is one of the few books I have not been able to put down. Jake's character changes completely, but it is a change that is needed to win the war against the Yeerks. One of my favourite parts in this book was when Jake talks to the Taxxons. I was really glad to see the return of Arbron, as he seemed to have been forgotten after The Andalite Chronicles. You must at least read the others in the ten part mini-series before you read this, but once you do it's a brilliant run-up, along with The Sacrifice, to the conclusion of this series. (The ending of this book is infuriating! I just wanted to grab The Beginning right away!) The end is near....

5.0 out of 5 stars The end is ever so near..., April 13, 2001
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
Jake, the other Animorphs, and Ax don't even realize it, but they're dying. The Yeerks are through with the subtle invasion that they had always kept with from the very beginning. But now that the fight for Earth has completely changed, the invasion is open war. The Yeerks are planning to turn Earth into an enormous Yeerk Pool to serve as the ultimate feeding source, bigger then any pool complex ever made. Before long, the Animorphs and Ax are forced to trust the vile, emotionless creatures they had always thought incapable of any feeling: Taxxons. But it seems that not all Taxxons want to serve the Yeerks. Some don't want to live with the knowledge of an inconquerable hunger. Some just want freedon, if that's ever possible. They too, want the invasion to end.... Animorphs #53: The Answer is the extraordinary second to last adventure of the Animorphs series, with only one more book left. The battle is almost over... one more book is left... and everything Jake and the others have ever tried to save is at stake. This one will widen the eyes of the reader like never before, and as the series draws to a close, the final adventure awaits in Animorphs #54: The Beginning. The last book arrives next month, May 2001. But I don't think I can really wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Answer, January 19, 2004
This review is from: The Answer (Animorphs, No. 53) (Paperback)
You guys are all smoking something. this book rocked! it was sad to read about the visser killing off james and the others, but jake had to do what was necessary to win. if james and the others hadnt sacrificed themselves then they all wouldve died anyway when the yeerks won the war. anyway, i think The Answer was a very good book. jake allying with Arbron and the other taxxons was a surprise, but a good one. it was awesome to read how jake's plan took effect. highly recommended.
