About the Author

Athol Kay is an innovative thinker, humorist and family man with a one track mind. He is a "Mixed Marital Artist" combining a variety of relationship approaches from evolutionary psychology, Pickup Artist "Game", sociology, biology, life experience, romance novels, crappy women's magazines, far too many books, blogging, behavior modification and cheap porn. He has distilled all this research into a few outstandingly effective tactics for gaining happiness and sex in marriage.

Jennifer Kay is the author's wife and she is mentioned 244 times in this book. She edits and approves of all Athol's writing before he publishes it. This is in no small part due to his riding roughshod over grammar, but mainly because Athol occasionally says things about her that her mother might read.

Athol was born in New Zealand and met Jennifer nine days before he was due to fly home after working on a summer camp in Maryland in 1991. Long distance for three years, they finally married in 1994. Married for 17 years, they have two daughters and live in Connecticut. They have a carefully balanced relationship where Athol dreams up all kinds of weird stuff, and Jennifer doesn't leave him.

However I recommend The Married Man Sex Guide from him. This book is a collection of many blog posts he wrote. Some are amusing, some are funny, many are insightful but there are also some that look a little out of place.

I enjoyed a lot his previous book (The Married Man Sex Guide) but it seemed to me that the major ideas were repeated here (literally a copy-paste) and the rest was just an entertaining reading without much profit.

Athol Kay is a great author, if you haven't read anything from him then buy his previous book. If you absolutely loved it or if you need some more examples to understand his ideas then buy this one.

Athol takes a disarming behavioral approach to marriages. Tired of the old yadda, yadda, yadda about how you need to be a nice guy so your love interest takes note and you get rewarded with (I) sex and (II) a great relationship? Want to hear how Star Fleet can offer a relationship model that just might work and be presented in a way that both you and your spouse can relate to without having to deal with too much psych-babble? Then this guide is for you. A series of short lessons that will have you nodding as you read and wondering why the heck no one spelled this out for you before. A key read for today's man that wants a relationship with the opposite sex explained so you gain additional insight as to why she does certain things (such as asking if her pants make her ass look fat), the possible responses and what each means. Highly recommended.

Generally speaking, I agree with most of Athol's relationship principles and the message he's trying to get across. I'm also a fan of anyone succeeding in getting men to think about working on their relationship with their wife in a positive monogomous way. This book is blunt and full of many pieces of wise advice mixed with good humor. I blew through the book in 2 evenings & have recommended it to many friends.

Another hit from Athol Kay. He is knowledgable on the subject of intimate male/female relationships and he presents the information in a way that is informative and entertaining.

I do not agree with all of his points of view (especially monogamy), but I must say that 90% of the time I endorse what Athol says. And at least 30% of the book is pure gold. You won't find any in-depth psychological arguments here. You just won't need them. Although the author is certainly a sensitive man, he does not pander to feminism or political correctness. An example: "...you would think that women would love you for spoiling them, but it turns out they see you as a weakling for doing so. If you keep running up to them and giving them nice things, they see you as trying to keep the relationship stable because you are not as attractive as they are". (from chapter 58).
Much more honest than any "advice column", I say.

Wow. A realistic approach to relationships. Would have made for a happier, more satisfying life for significant others as well as myself had I known how to captain a relationship. Everybody won't agree with everything about this approach, but it's difficult to argue with when it WORKS.

This book came too late to save my marriage, but it explains a lot of things that I'd been wondering about for the past 20 years. Such as why, when women constantly ask you to be nicer to them, the nicer you are, the more likely they are to cheat on you. Why, when women say its not you, its just that they just don't want it as much as you do, it really is you and your behavior.

I wish someone had written this book 30 years ago and that I'd have read it. Things might be different today. A good lesson in how, if you take everything at face value, you will end up being a big loser. This book explains why what you know in your gut is true. For someone who tends to over think a situation and needs some rational justification for behavior, it this a good tool. Not as good as his Marie's Man's Primer, however.

Not politically correct makes him a wise man of the urban jungle great background and foreground information. This what your dad might not have been able to explain.
