This is one of those books that makes perfect sense, and yet I never really took the time to research WHY I should eat according to my blood type. Now I know. I am an AB blood type, and no one ever told me that I shouldn't eat chicken, of all things! While I find the subject of blood type and health absolutely fascinating, I have a hard time recommending this book. I read Eat Right 4 Your Type two years ago and am a big fan. 5.0 out of 5 stars I've Waited All My Life for This!, February 10, 2000
This review is from: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype (Paperback)
This is one of those books that makes perfect sense, and yet I never really took the time to research WHY I should eat according to my blood type. Now I know. I am an AB blood type, and no one ever told me that I shouldn't eat chicken, of all things! Since I was diagnosed with extremely high cholesterol three years, I have done everything the doctor said, i.e. stop eating red meat and foods high in saturated fat. Well, I did that, but to very little avail. Now I read The Answer is in Your Bloodtype and find out that chicken is worse for me than steak! Why didn't my doctor tell me about this? I have lost 15 pounds in one month by simply eating according to the menus in this book. I feel wonderful. The book gives uncanny symptoms of the various blood types and the diseases that one can get, depending on their blood type. This book culminated all my "other" knowledge about dieting correctly, lowering cholesterol, and the correct way to eat protein. I've done everything from food combining to counting calories to taking Salmon oil pills and nothing "clicked" until I read and started practicing eating according to my bloodtype. My thanks to the authors and their caring about people enough to publish a book such as this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate & Enlightening!, September 4, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype (Paperback)
I am 19 years old and blood type B. My father is AB my mother O. I spent 6 weeks with my father last summer and adhered to the diet and exercise regimen exactly. I went from 155 lbs. to 135 lbs, and 28% bodyfat to 9%, and while doing so ate more food than before I started. This book has hit the nail right on the head. I will continue to eat for my blood type for the rest of my life, as my body knows and feels the difference. The minute I cut chicken out of my diet, my weight started to drop.

My fathers family are mostly A with one B. Most have already died of heart disease, with the exception of my B grandmother, who is in good condition. My mothers family are all O, and my great grandparents on her side are still living in their 90's. The longevity statistics are so accurate they are scary. The compatibility stuff is really accurate too.

I am grateful that I learned about this blood type stuff at an early age. I used to be tired all the time, now I have energy to burn. I know what I can and cannot eat, and I follow the diet as closely as possible. This is a really good book. I think they should teach this stuff in college.

This book reiterates much of the same information but is annoyingly filled with sales pitches for their product. I did enjoy reading the statistical data regarding death rates, diseases, and population profiles by blood type. VERY interesting, particularly since I'm a type O! Still, I recommend Dr. D'adamo's book (ER4YT) over this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, September 11, 2000
By
This review is from: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype (Paperback)
My father is blood type AB and my mother blood type O. I am type B, nineteen years old, and attend college. Last summer I visited my father and went on the diet and did the exercise recommended. I went from 165 lbs. to 135 lbs, and from 28% body fat to 9% body fat in 8 weeks. The diet and exercise works like a charm and I'm glad my dad started me young. My father's family were mostly type A, and just as the books says, they all died of heart disease. My B grandmother, on my fathers side is in good health at 76. On my mother's side they are all type O and very healthy. My great grandparents are in their 90's and still with it. The part about life span is significant and accurate as far as my family is concerned. The part about compatibility is also accurate. My parents, who are AB and O stayed married for 10 years. After they divorced they each married spouses of their same blood type, and both are very happy. Coincidence? I think not. I wish this subject was taught in college, as it seems much more relevant and practible than many of the courses I am required to take.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and Informative, December 8, 1999

Although other authors, specifically Nomi of Japan, and D'Adamo of the US have written about diet and blood type, this book discusses the Theories of Longevity and Compatibility, two theories I have never seen in print before. These theories will further man's understanding of the link between blood type and all other aspects of life. Having compared lifespan statistics against my family tree, this book is right on target. Its high time the government makes these statistics available to everyone. These theories regarding lifespan and the compatibility of blood types deserve widespread recognition in their own right, and should not be kept from the people.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't go on blind faith...., February 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype (Paperback)
Do your research elsewhere and then come back to this book if it fits with the authenticated research. I find the blood type theory very fascinating, and I certainly like it much more than the one-diet-fits-all that usually comes down the pike. That said, I'm afraid this book doesn't back up the promises with any proof. A fancy bibliography doesn't mean squat if you don't use citations and give credit where credit is deserved. All it says is you have those books on your library shelf. These authors did not originate the diet for blood type theory, and they give absolutely no explanation for how they came up with which foods for each blood type. For all we know, they drew them out of a hat. I'm not questioning the diet for blood type theory, only these two individuals attempts to cash in on it. As far as the depth of their science, there was nothing in this book I hadn't already learned in one year of college biology and nursing school. I don't know about other people, but when someone uses a complex writing style to explain basic scientific facts, I'm a little suspicious that they are trying to "puff" themselves up. There was nothing revolutionary about their "science." And, I hesitate to call it "their's" in the first place. I've been reading about diet for blood type, the specifics and it's origins for several years. On a more positive note, *IF* they borrowed their information from sound scientific studies then the book does offer a comprehensive list of foods and eating plans for each blood type. However, I would really like to know the WHY behind their choices, and not just go on blind faith.

2.0 out of 5 stars Go to the horse's mouth, February 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype (Paperback)
Having purchased this book, based on certain reviews I read here, I wish to tell you that I found it severely wanting. First of all, an editor would have been of immeasureable value. It is so often illiterate that one must continously re-read sentences to determine what is intended, supplying your own punctuation and grammar. Some sentences are basicaly indeciferable. Also, the derivation of the blood type data is not given. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money on this book unless you are interested in information other than blood type. I would go straight to D'Adamo's books, which are comprehensive and scientific.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dr. D'Adamo's book made clearer, February 8, 2001
By
Walter A. Burdge (Hoosick Falls, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype (Paperback)
I have read the D'Adamo's book and I have been following the diet for about 2 years now [more or less] but I find this book easier to understand and with many fascinating and down to earth insights. Such as that couples seem very often to have the same blood type and so forth. I also have had several "Oh! I get it!" moments. Would certainly advocate buying it, even for the very knowledgeable in this subject. I found the large type a bit off putting at first, but soon got used to that.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Answer is in the Blood, August 19, 2000
By
This review is from: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype (Paperback)
The scriptures have told us for thousands of years that the secret to good health is in the blood. I purchased this book at my local health food store and it sat on the shelf for over six months. Last year my doctor recommended Lipitor to reduce my cholesterol, which was 397 and triglicerides of 228. I tried to eat properly and exercise more, but the numbers just wouldn't come down. In desperation, I picked up The Answer is in Your Bloodtype, now collecting dust, and started gradually following the eating guidelines. I was unfamiliar with many of the foods mentioned, but I emailed the company and they were very helpful. After about two weeks I felt better and experienced less bloating and more energy. I also had lost 6 pounds, so I decided to follow their recommendations as closely as possible. I have now been on the diet for 7 months and have shed 32 pounds and really feel younger and more energetic.

Last week I had my semi-annual physical and my doctor called to say my cholesterol fell to 207 and my triglicerides to 99. He said my heart disease risk had fallen by more than 1/2, and he was very pleased.

I am a deeply religious man and believe things happen for a reason. Now when I read my bible, and it refers to the health is in the blood, it takes on a new meaning. Whether you are religious or not this book should be a permanent part of your life. God moves in mysterious ways, and I believe he brought this book into my life so I could fulfill my mission. As a good Christian it is now my duty to pass this valuable information to others. Now each week, as I attend mass, I think of those wise ancestors and prophets who knew the health was in the blood. It has only reinforced my faith in scriptures, and makes me feel more in touch with my spirituality and faith. I thank the almighty and his loyal servants Weissberg and Christiano for enlightening us with this wonderful book.
