Ignore Kalera Stratton's review, November 25, 2007

Ignore Kalera Stratton's review, she doesn't know what she's talking about.
This is an outstanding album, and whilst it is not the same style as Blue October's Foiled album, it is nevertheless a work of genius. Every song is fantastic, and although I think the songs sound better when performed live (see Blue October's live album "Argue With a Tree..."). The song writing on The Answers is among the best in Blue October's catalog. "For My Brother", "Tomorrow", "Sweet and Somber Pigeon Wings", "Italian Radio", "Blue Sunshine", "Black Orchid", "Mr. Blues Menu", "Weaknesses", "The Darkest Side of Houston's Finest Day" and "The 21st" are all worthy of inclusion in a list of Blue October's best songs.
Yes this album was recorded in 1997 so it won't sound the same as an album that was recorded in 2007, but any music fan worth their salt can recognize the genius in the lyrics and the violin arrangements. Buy this album, it's well worth it.

Starting at the roots..., November 8, 2007

This album is very personal to the band, and it defiantly shows. The lyrics are raw, so much so that you feel as though you are surrounded by them. There is also something very soothing about singer Justin Furstenfeld's voice, it just seems to draw you in almost daring you not to listen closer. On this first offering from Blue October you can see a lot more of their Texas based "twang" rock roots, which only gives more personality to their sound.
On this record Blue October is not afraid to show what is at their core, a passion for making music with purpose. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys deep poetic lyrics with solid alternative/folk/rock sound.
Looking back on this album it is very clear why they are a band that is on the way up the music charts.
Tracks not to be missed: Breakfast After Ten, Italian Radio, For My Brother, Blue Sunshine, Black Orchid

Answers to loneliness, October 10, 2008
This review is from: The Answers (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Blue October since there Foiled album. I bought there early albums and listened to them for months. I swear. This band, and/or Justin Furstenfeld is some of the best music I have ever heard. The lyrics are so deep I can feel my heart beating when I am listening to these great songs. The Answers is there first full length album. Some songs on this album made it on later albums because they were so unnoticed when it came out. I somehow overlooked this album when buying the others. But it welcomes itself with relatable lyrics that any non-shallow individual that has "lived" and understands the important things in life will attach themselves to these songs like the songs were telling there own life story. Enjoy.
