I am a substitute teacher in the NEW CHRISTIAN class at my home church. Before using this resource I often agonized over wondering whether my little friends had an understanding of what being a christian meant. This wonderful, well-written colorbook storybook steps the student through each concept related to salvation and by the time the child is to the end of the book it is not hard at all to gage whether the friend is a candidate for baptism. This has really helped me to feel confident that all the concepts have been covered and that my friend has a full understanding of what the truth is. Another thing I love about this is it is not keyed into a denominational set of practices but to scriptures that tell how we are "saved". If your denomination does not believe in the assurance of continued salvation once saved then that might be the one hitch in using the book for you. Each page takes the child to scriptures as the source of what is being explained. The pictures can be colored and this gives the child something kinesthetic to do to free the mind up for really absorbing the concepts. It also paces the material at a rate the child can process. I love these little talking moments with the child when we have read the page and they are coloring their picture. I feel like I know a little more about each youngster and some of how they think through these little times of talk while coloring the pictures. I have been given the opportunity to really pray with some youngsters about fears and issues on their minds through the process of considering what it means to be a christian. I LOVE THIS BOOK and its author. I heartily recommend it to homeschoolers, church sunday school teachers, children's directors and anyone who has an opportunity to work with a child after or in order to receive Christ as their savior. No more wondering if the child really understands what it means to be a sinner or what is necessary to accept Christ's free gift of salvation. Pacing through this book will bring the unclear concepts to light.

Answers for New Christians is simply written and not hard to follow. It has just enough detail for a child. I like the illustrations and color pages. I especially liked the little character of Bic.

Three of my four children were immediately interested in this book when it arrived in the mail (the eldest, age 11, doesn't have much interest in coloring books anymore). When their cousins came to visit, all under age 10, they were also very interested in the book and wanted to color in it.

I appreciate that the book offers something for the child to do (color), while he is perhaps subconsciously learning Biblical truths. This is my favorite way of teaching the children: through words as well as action.

I would have loved to see the book express God's grace more in giving us such freedom as to how we worship Him. We don't have to attend church to be close to God, and that is something I think a new Christian should understand. It may enhance the Christian journey, but it is not a requirement.
