Balanced treatment of the supernatural in the Bible,
By David McKay(music@fl.net.au) (Blue Mountains, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 99 Answers to Questions About Angels, Demons & Spiritual Warfare (Paperback)
Oropeza has written a sensible, interesting and thoughtful book about the supernatural in the Bible. His book is carefully argued, and the author shows how many of the extreme views that people adopt today have a very short history, and were not taught by Christians who lived prior to the Second World War.Oropeza argues that Christ is supreme, and that Christians should be aware of, but not frightened by Satan and his minions. The book is very easy to read, and takes the form of 99 questions and answers about the topic. It is very easy to find the article about the topic you are looking for. Well worth reading.

Want to learn the deep, sensational secrets of Satanism??,
By WitherWing (Naknek, AK USA) - See all my reviews

Then go pick up something else. For something REAL for a change, this book delievers. There are no sensational stories in here, no "secret Bible verses Satan hates" or silly things like that. Just Scriptues that demonstrate the truth that Satan is a defeated enemy who is not everywhere at once. He's done a good job showing where some of the more popular rumors and theories about Angels and demons have come from. It even goes to the point of questioning the commonly-held belief of the orgins of Satan. This is not the sensationalism and rumors of Bob Larson or Mike Warnke. This is a level headed and intelligent search of the Scripture. You will think, and your view of Spiritual Warefare will be challenged (especally if you think "Star Wars" is Spiritual Warefare) so be forwarned!!

Answers just about all of your questions, and then some...,
This review is from: 99 Answers to Questions About Angels, Demons & Spiritual Warfare (Paperback)
I suppose that if we argue that the author is biased in this book, we should argue that he is biased in favor of a biblical theology of angels and demons. Yes, it is true. His opinions may not be completely in accordance with those who do not have a bible-based background. However, for those of you who do, you will find this a well researched and documented volume. The author walks you through virtually all of the basic biblical theories concerning the spritual realm. In addition, he not only supports all of his positions with scripture so you can verify things for yourself, but he also refers to extra-biblical literature as well. Where the author has a particular opinion of a controversial theory, he is consistent in providing biblical evidence for his position. This is a highly readable book, written for the layman, yet covers just about all the theology you need to know on this subject. The book is presented in a question and answer format, which makes it easy to use it as a reference tool to look up just the information about the specific questions you may have. If you are seeking more in-depth knowledge on the subject, it is still useful as a reference because it lays out all of the major theories on the subject, although I would not stop here. You should read as many books on the subject as possible. All in all, it answers just about every question you will probably need to know as a layman, and then some.

I believe this book to be something every christian should read at some point, especially the ones who, like me, do not really know the sripture, so all info in this book is a relative news to me. However, exactly BECAUSE I dont know the scripture, there is no way for me to say whether this man is legit with his knowledge of the subject, or he is ranting.
What stroke me at the end of reading this book is the fact that the Bible has been translated and retranslated so many times that it could be completely inaccurate! How to I come to that conclusion? 59th question, as an example. Did Paul's thorn in the body come from Satan? OK, now I am reading the book in Croatian. It says "trn u tijelu" meaning "thorn in the body". I have no idea what english book says. However, the latin translation says "stimulus carnis", which would, according to my limited knowledge of latin mean "stimulus to the flesh", or something that bothers the flesh. Got translated as "thorn", probably in wanting to make it "simple" for the simple folk of centuries before ours. But God only knows what was really bothering Paul! As a Christian, I am not strangthened in faith knowing that the Bible might be all wrong cause we messed it all up in translation..

Bad,
By Travis Hunt (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 99 Answers to Questions About Angels, Demons & Spiritual Warfare (Paperback)
Bad. Really bad. Really really bad. I could go on like this forever. The author obviously has no idea what he's talking about. His evidence is shoddy, his assumptions are questionable, and there is way to many 'maybes'. This book, obviously the rantings of a mad man, seems to be oriented toward people who are of none of the religions that are in this book and whose angel/demon knowledge comes from NBC's must see Thursdays.
