5.0 out of 5 stars Daughters Favorite Game, January 9, 2010

My daughter got this for her birthday, and has not put it down since. She says it is like being an ant yourself protecting the colony, and having the ants do certain things. I heard this game is discontinued so if you want one I suggest you get one soon. We were lucky to find the last one in the store for her. To bad bug games don't seem that popular but my nine year old daughter likes this game alot. Game is perfect for young children no rough fighting, and bad words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Birthday Present for 8 yr old Son, May 22, 2010

We got this game for our son based on the reviews, and he and our 6 yr old play it all of the time. They like earning worker ants, defeating the attacking insects, and building the colony. We ordered an Ant Farm a few weeks after getting the game, because our boys became very interested in how ants live and work. Highly recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars Wastes Time - Very Basic Simulation, December 12, 2010

I'm surprised by the positive reviews from other people. I have to presume they haven't had the game very long. There is only one script - send your ants to find food and protect the colony from invaders. You cannot accelerate the game at any point, which means if it takes 3 minutes for your digital ants to walk across the screen to where you told them to find food... you sit there for 3 minutes and watch. If it takes them 5 minutes to take the food back to your colony, one pixel at a time - you sit for 5 minutes and watch. This sounds like a minor point except once you learn how to control the ants, the strategy is done and you are left with a game that involves little more than sitting, watching your ants go back and forth.

Enemies are predictable, and while the placement of food is "random", you know it will be under rocks and leaves that appear on a fixed schedule. Again, the majority of your time is spent waiting, waiting, waiting. Your ants can earn new capabilities as you grow, but you are never in a situation where you need them. You earn abilities at such a slow pace, your colony will have far more ants than you need to overwhelm any foe.

This could have been a good game, but it is actually quite poor. A few minor changes would have made all the difference.
