Simply stated, the Antec Notebook cooler works. There are a lot of cheaper products out there (I tried two) but this one delivers. It is light and flat with a two-speed fan, easy USB connect, and cool blue pilot light. It is silent even on the higher of the speed settings and keeps a hot laptop from shutting down or worse. My advice: don't experiment--get the Antec.

This cooler works EXTREMELY well. I use this daily for 8-10 hours a day sometimes for the last 3 years, keeps my laptop very cool. Unfortunately the usb power cable will wear out due to poor design, there's no stress relief on the cord near the usb plug so eventually the plastic covering for the wires becomes detached and the wires eventually break. You used to be able to order a replacement plug from antec, but they no longer carry the usb plug. Most other laptop cooler usb plugs work with this model so finding a replacement isn't terribly hard if your usb cable finally wears out.

Excellent product. Tried all the cheaper ones and they were all junk. This is the best and cheapest one that actually works and isn't junk. A+

No lie, this Antec is a great cooler. I've had mine since June-08 and it has run non-stop 24/7, ALL that time! There is no on/off switch and rather than damage plugs by frequently plugging and unplugging, I just leave it running. My fan in my laptop never comes on anymore because the cooler is doing it's job and I always leave it set on the low setting which has just a slight hum, not distracting. If I were to use my laptop without the cooler, the left side gets hot to my palm but stays nice room temperature with the cooler running. My daughter's has been running since Dec-08 - again no problems. I'm looking to buy two more to save for the future when these eventually conk out - that's how good they are! You can use them on your lap because the fans are enclosed in a very strong not flimsy case. I got mine on sale plus a manufacturers $20 rebate, so I paid only $7 for mine and found daughter's for $20. I wish I had bought more when I saw them so cheap but at the time I didn't know they would be so good.

I've owned 3 of these Antec coolers over the past few years and they get the job done.The most important features are comfort,craftsmanship,and most of all heat dissipation,The Antec works well on all counts and it's quiet too.
