Product Description

Antec’s High Current Pro Platinum series is the pinnacle of power supplies. High Current Pro Platinum is fully modular with a revolutionary 20+8-pin MBU socket for the needs of tomorrow. By using a PSU that is 80 PLUS PLATINUM and ErP Lot 6: 2013 certified, operating up to 94% efficient, you can reduce your electricity bill by up to 25% when compared to many other power supplies. HCP Platinum’s innovative 16-pin sockets create a new level of flexibility by doubling the modular connectivity, supporting two different 8-pins connectors and even future connectors of 10, 12, 14 or 16-pins. All cables are darkened to become Stealth Wires and are thus nearly invisible in your chassis. 4 High Current Rails and a 100% +12V output ratio maximize HCP-1000 Platinum’s capabilities to power the latest CPU’s and GPU’s. HCP Platinum’s PhaseWave Design is a server-class “full-bridge” LLC design with a synchronous rectification based on a DC-DC topology. All Japanese capacitors achieve unprecedented tight voltage regulation and low ripple and noise to maximize your system’s performance. Antec’s intelligent Thermal Manager fan control spins the high-quality 13.5cm DBB fan optimally to cool your PSU quietly. CircuitShield makes the HCP-1000 Platinum safe and reliable in any environment with its nine industrial-grade protections. The HCP-1000 Platinum embodies everything a power supply can accomplish today.

It happens sometimes. That doesn't mean this PSU relinquishes any of its elite status. The RMA transaction was simple and flawless. the person I talked to on the phone to process my RMA (AR actually) had a good attitude. I have no doubts my new PSU will provide the strong heart my $3000 gaming rig requires. And resetting my 7 year warranty is nice as well.

Update: Just got new PSU. This thing just will not spin the CPU fan. I know it has nothing to do with my wiring, seating of RAM, etc. because I used a spare PSU I had on the shelf, plugged it in, and my system fired right up. I was even able to install my OS with it. Something is fishy about this PSU and I am currently trying to figure it out. Its the P1 connector just like the last one I had. Maybe this PSU is not compatible with an ASUS P9X79 WS board? It sure would have been nice to have this documented. Is there some unknown or hard to find safety mechanism that prevents this thing from operating? The world may never know. Will update with any info I can find.

Update #2: Well, I knew it was something stupid. As it turns out, you HAVE to plug in the "future" 8 pin MB connector with the standard 20 pin for this thing to operate. I guess the PSU is smart enough to sense when you will need it and won't operate unless its plugged in. Hope I helped someone. Just an FYI, if you are breadboard testing and your fans start a pattern of lighting up and stopping it is just because the PSU recognizes everything is not in place and shuts off as a safety precaution. This signals that the PSU works but you need to button up the chassis and plug everything in before it will be of service. Darn machines are getting too smart for us. Hope I helped someone with this kick ass product. I think I might get an Antec tattoo now.

its fairly light for a 1000w power supply unit, its fully modular so you can get rid of un-needed cables, came with all the cables to do a 4 way SLI or crossfire, mobo power cable was long enough to go from the bottom of my tower, behind my mobo, all the way to the top front of it, fan is very quiet and the exhaust fan gets rid of most of the heat, no thermal soak to my graphics cards... I purchased this item on amazon b/c newegg had none available, it was a little more expensive, but the next day shipping I got was made it cheaper and very much worthwhile

Thankfully, many more models like this one are modular, a consideration if you have a case with a window. Mine went into a Corsair green C70 case. I love Antec products despite that my previous power supply (PSU) Antec's 550 Neopower, died after five years. This 1000watt Platinum model has a SEVEN year replacement warranty. That's excellent security, and I believe spending a l'il more on a PSU ever since my no-name made-in-china generic HP model shot a column of white smoke out the back of the PC. The PSU burned out and made that acrid electrical fire smell; if I wasn't home, it likely would have progressed to a fire. Ever since, I decided not to skimp on a power supply. So I wholeheartedly endorse Antec Platinum for its extra measure of safety. And only Antec's Platinum models get that long replacement wty.

Here's Antec's Wty straight from their site:

I only purchased this power supply because the 850 watt was unavailable and this was the same price so I went ahead and purchased the 1000 watt unit. Way more than I need so I will or should never be short of power. Again I have always used Antec power supplies and never had issues with them.
