Does exactly what it is supposed to. If you build your own systems and encounter an issue, this power tester is essential. Believe me. Chasing stupid electrical problems is like chasing cats. Buy some peace of mind by eliminating the obvious, first.

Takes away all doubt about the status of your power supply. There are other things that can mimic power supply failure so this little device will rule out or identify the power supply as the problem in seconds. Indispensable tool in my kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick test, April 8, 2008

Just hook up the 20 or 24 pin cable from the psu. Green lights will come on to tell you if the voltages are right. If a voltage is too high, its LED will turn red, too low and the LED shows amber. There is also a pair of heavy duty resistors inside to put a 20 watt load on the psu just to make sure that the psu can handle it (there was no pesky warranty sticker so i just had to open it up!!). It's not a huge load, but it's enough to sort out marginal psus. Since there's load inside, expect it to get warm! If you want to power up your psu for an extended period of time, get a paper clip and google how to use it safely. If you want a fast answer to "Is this PSU ok?" use this tester.
