5.0 out of 5 stars Real good PSU, but be careful with the size, June 13, 2009

This review is from: Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power Supply Unit for Antec Twelve Hundred V3, P183-V3, P193-V3 and DF-85 (Personal Computers)
I just build a new computer with antec1200/CP850 and the power supply fits like a glove, but be carefull its only design to fit 3 cases, its above the standard in height.

Pros,
- Really stable voltages.
- Cheap compared to other modular 850w psu out there.
- Looks great on antec1200 (matching color with the inner case).
- Fully sleeved cables and are long enough to reach a 1200 setup.
- Modular
- Very quiet, its not dead silent, but the fan bearly spins for sure there are other component much louder than this PSU in you average computer.

Cons,
- Size, its above standard, so might not fit you average case.

Overall if you have an Antec1200 case this probably is the best PSU you can get considering price/preformance. But be carefull if you have any other case you might look elsewhere.

This is a great psu for a handfull of Antec model cases (Antec Twelve Hundred, P183 and P193 ). Large fans and ample cable lengths provide excellent psu cooling and power cable routing options to create a clean, less cluttered system installation. This will NOT fit in most other cases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great but very proprietary, March 3, 2010

This review is from: Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power Supply Unit for Antec Twelve Hundred V3, P183-V3, P193-V3 and DF-85 (Personal Computers)
Replacing a smaller power-supply I had in the case, I immediately noticed a quieter system and all-around better air-flow in my computer. The power-supply is partially modularized ( I say this because I was hoping more of the cables could be modularized out, such as the PCI-E power cables for the video cards). The built-in cables on the power-supply are extra long, perfect for use with the p183 which you can wrap the power cables behind the back of the motherboard (my old power-supply cables were too short to be fully routed around the back).

Because Antec is using a larger Power-Supply standard, it allows for more features and better specifications compared to the smaller power-supplies you may be used to. With that, comes a much cheaper power-supply but it does not skimp on the features and abilities. I recently built an computer using an Antec p183 case which is one case that supports the use of the CP-850 power supply. If you're going to be utilizing an Antec p183, p193 or 1200 case then I highly recommend using a CP-850 class power supply. It would be ignorant to use any other power-supply because the case is practically designed with the intentions of using this larger power-supply.

Bottom Line: Get this power-supply is you have a p183, p193 or 1200, otherwise you're going to have difficulty fitting this power-supply in your case in addition to its extra-long cables.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too much power? never..., August 17, 2009
This review is from: Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power Supply Unit for Antec Twelve Hundred V3, P183-V3, P193-V3 and DF-85 (Personal Computers)
The Antec 850 power supply was a little bit overkill for the system that I put together; however, it does the job great and placed inside a P183 Antec case it provides excellent cooling as well. As this power supply has a good sized fan built on to it as well as a ton of air flow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Power Supply, July 21, 2009
This review is from: Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power Supply Unit for Antec Twelve Hundred V3, P183-V3, P193-V3 and DF-85 (Personal Computers)
Solid power supply. Has really good performance to price ratio probably due to antec desire for people to adopt a new non-atx sized power supply. Runs very quiet and stays cool. Not a true modular power supply as there are several power lines connected to the box. As stated often, only fits 3 specific antec cases so do your research - amazed from another site the number of bad reviews due to "not fitting my case".

I first owned the Antec 900 and upgraged to the Antec 1200, as I was upgrading my whole system: Motherboard, Processor, and Case. I soon discovered that my power supply needed upgrading as well. So I took a chance and ordered this one. It is AMAZING and was beyond my expectations! They supply extra plugs and power leads for room to grow! I encourage you to purchase this one.

With this power supply (which has two fans of its own) and case, my six core processor runs between 15C and 25C (no over-clocking), according to Speedfan.

An excellent option for the P183 Case. Design should help ensure longevity of the unit!

My preferred PSU now as I like the PSU mounted in bottom of case and like the Antec 183 and 193 cases ... Bought this as case and psu pair from amazon ... perfect, it is modular and fan promotes smooth air flow through case. Use to mount additional fans on from ... but no need now

5.0 out of 5 stars Great psu!, July 1, 2009

This review is from: Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power Supply Unit for Antec Twelve Hundred V3, P183-V3, P193-V3 and DF-85 (Personal Computers)
Picked this up for my Antec Twelve Hundred, and it works great. Has more than enough cable length for your system. Having a few extra modular ports is a nice addition especially if you ever plan on running any of the newer video cards that use 2x 6 pin pcie plugs. Runs nice and cool.

This is a big psu, and wasn't intended for anything other than the Twelve Hundred, cp 183 and 193. Other cases will more than likely need to be modified to fit this beast. But what a beast it is. Power wise, the psu can handle just about any single video card. In SLI if you're looking for more than dual GeForce GTX 260's you may want to consider a bigger box, like the CP-1000Cp-1000 840W Power Supply Atx12 F/ Antec Cases Nvidia Sli Ready. Or any other 1000watt psu for that matter. The 120mm fan on the front of the CP-850 runs at a slow enough speed to create virtually no sound.

**I've ran an oc'd quad with a pair of overclocked HD5870s and this psu has kept on trucking**

I've been using this for 6 months with an Antec P183 case, and it's the quietest component in my system!

Make sure you read the specs, as this power supply only fits certain cases!
