It looks simple and cheap but once you see the cables you can tell it's quality.

Just as the other reviewer has mentioned, the first unit had high pitched noise issue. I waited about four days to make sure that it is permanent issue, and had it exchanged for the same unit.
Second unit, to my relief is quiet and without a drama to report on. It is relatively quiet, about as quiet as the OEM unit that died on me after 14 months of service. I took quick wattage reading from my APC, and it drains about as much as my OEM unit, which was rated at 350W.
Something to watch out for: Antec recently phased out EA-500 and replaced it with EA-500D, which is made by Delta, and not Seasonic as EA-500 (this unit). Delta is known for making OEM products, but their reputation is still pretty much unknown.

I ordered this item through one of Amazon's other providers. Unfortunately they sent me a 250 watt Dell power supply. It was in the correct box but no where near the specifications of what I ordered. I ended up buying this power supply from my local Frys Electronics. Amazon has reimbursed me for the charges including shipping charges. I needed to upgrade the power supply in a used Dell computer I had recently purchased. I installed it a couple of days ago and I'm satisfied with its performance. It has many connectors, more that the one it replaced, so it would be suitable for most any installation. It's media drive connections are for SATA devices. Its installation went very well, the only exception being what to do with the extra cables.

I have been using the Antec EA500 for about 6 moths and have had no problems. I am using it with an Athlonx2 2.8Ghz overclocked to 2.96Ghz, Coolermaster CM 690 case (with 4 case fans), GeForce 9800GT, ASUS M3N78-VM motherboard, 4Gb OCZ 800Mhz RAM, one DVD burner and one 500Gb hard drive.

The PSU has given me no problems and is easily able to provide all the power I need and then some.

***Update 2 years later***
This power supply is still working great, I am looking to upgrade due to the amps on the 12v rail but will still use this in my second computer. I have had no issues with it, ever. It has been swapped into about 3 different computers at this point. Great item.

This has been a great power supply. It has plenty of connectors and has been able to satisfy the load without issue. I can't ask for much more, especially since it has lasted for well over a year.

I bought this to replace an Antec SP-500 and it works great and its not as loud as people say it is on these reviews. I would recommend it to anyone.

This unit emits a high-pitched electronic buzzing sound when the computer is running. It's not loud, but it's right at the frequency range where it's annoying and hard to ignore. I tried two different units and both had the exact same problem. I did a little searching and found other reports of this issue, so it's not just my setup. This is very unfortunate because other than the buzzing sound this unit works great, runs cool, and the cooling fan makes almost no noise. This would have been the perfect unit for my purposes, but because I am in a quiet home environment and can't endure that buzzing sound I have to look for something else.

I bought this power supply after I had the cheap one that came with my case go out on me. This thing is rock solid and has never failed me. It has plenty of cables for anything that you need, I have a large case so they long and many cables were great. Another plus is how power efficient this thing is. I recommend buying this power supply and foregoing a cheaper one as the cheaper ones usually go out after a short period of time or are not very stable.

Bought this Power Supply about 5 months ago to replace a power supply that died a hero. This is the quietest power supply I have ever had in any of my computers ever. And that says a lot. A great performer. My case noise was cut in half after I installed this PS. I liked it so much I bought another one for my daughters computer. No complaints. No issues.
